- Peggy and Madeline always teased and made fun of her attire and appearance. After immigrating from another country, Wanda’s parents admitted her to a native American school.
- Wanda's classmates would also tease her because the name she had was quite different from the native names of others.
- Being from a poor household, Wanda usually wore a faded blue dress to her school and tried to remain as quiet as possible. She didn't have friends during her time in school.
- Wanda always sat alone in class because her feet were often covered in dry mud because she arrived every day from Boggins Heights.
- Tired of their remarks, Wanda finally spoke out and claimed to have a hundred dresses and sixty shoes in her closet.
- Peggy and Madeline gradually became more suspicious about why Wanda would still wear one dress every day to school if she had other hundreds of them.
