Class 10 Science Chapter 16 Sustainable Management of Natural Resources: Important Topics

Sustainability is the term used to protect and conserve the environment or nature. In our environment, natural resources play a crucial role in human life. Natural resources exist on the earth independently. But, due to human activities, these resources are going to be damaged or become extinct in the near future. The main objective of Biology sustainability is to make a balance between nature and natural resources.

  • Methods of Sustainable Management

We can protect our environmental pressure by following the concept named 3R's, meaning to Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse.

Reduce: It means to use less natural resources by,

  • Switching off the electrical appliances when not in use.

  • Saving fuel by walking or using public transport.

  • Saving food by cooking limitedly or not wasting it, and so on.

Recycle: It is the processing or recycling of waste to form new products. Practising the concept of recycling reduces the piling of waste materials, and also saves resources, costs.

Reuse: It is the using of an item more than once like,

  • Reuse the envelope.

  • The containers of jams and pickles should be reused by storing other food items or groceries.

  • Use cloth/jute bags instead of the polyethene ones, and so on.
