Class 11 Chemistry Chapter 14 Environmental Chemistry – Important Topics

Environmental Chemistry deals with all the natural chemical processes that takes place in the surrounding environment.

Pollution: Any undesirable change in the environment is termed as pollution. There are various forms of pollution such as:

  • Air Pollution

  • Light Pollution

Acid Rain: Acid rain refers to any type of precipitation that contains acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid, and falls to the ground in wet or dry form from the atmosphere.

Greenhouse effect: The greenhouse effect describes how "greenhouse gases" trap heat at the Earth's surface. Due to increased release of greenhouse gases such as Carbon Monoxide, CFC, Sulphur dioxide, etc, more heat is getting trapped leading to the increase of global temperature.
