- Types of Joints – The place where two or more bones meet is called a joint. Joints help in movement of body parts.
| There are different types of joints in our body – Ball and Socket Joints, Pivotal Joints, Hinge Joints and Fixed Joints |
- Ball and Socket Joints – In such joints, the rounded surface of one bone moves within the cavity of another bone allowing movements.
| This joint provides maximum movement and are found in shoulders and hips allowing movement of arms and legs. |
- Pivotal Joints – Pivotal joints allows rotatory movements around a single axis.
| Pivotal joint is found at the base of skull and helps in movement of head. |
- Hinge Joints – Hinge joints are a type of synovial joints that allow movement in one plane.
