Example From Chapter 11 Mensuration 

Ques. If the total surface area of a cube is 486 cm2. Find its volume.

Soln: Total surface area of a cube = 6(length)2

Therefore, it is given,

486 = 6(side)2

(Side)2= 486/6

(Side)2 = 81cm

Therefore,

Length of each side =9cm

Volume of a cube =(side)3

Therefore, 

Volume = (9)3

Volume of the cube = 729 cm3
