TS PGECET Counselling 2027: Registration Expected July, Web Option Entry and Local Area Quota

TS PGECET Counselling 2027 will be conducted by the Telangana Government Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) for admission to ME, MTech, M.Arch, M.Pharmacy, and Pharm.D (Post-Baccalaureate) programmes across participating universities and colleges in Telangana. All registration, choice filling, and seat acceptance activities take place exclusively online at the official counselling portal pgecetadm.tgche.ac.in, organised by JNTUH on behalf of TGCHE.

• Seats are divided into Local Area (85%) and Non-Local (15%) quotas; category reservations — SC, ST, BC groups, EWS — are then applied vertically within each geographic pool.
• Students with a valid GATE or GPAT score from 2025, 2026, or 2027 are eligible alongside TS PGECET 2027 rank holders.
• The non-refundable counselling processing fee is Rs. 1,200 for General/OC/BC/EWS students and Rs. 600 for SC/ST students, paid separately for each phase in which you register.

Reservation of Quotas for TS PGECET Counselling 2027

Seat reservation for TS PGECET 2027 counselling operates in two layers. The first layer divides all convener-quota seats geographically between local and non-local students. The second layer applies vertical category reservations within each geographic pool. Horizontal reservations for special categories are then applied across all vertical categories.

Horizontal reservations for PH, CAP, NCC, and Sports are applied across all vertical categories — meaning seats under these special categories are drawn proportionally from within the OC, BC, SC, and ST shares, not added on top of them. If you belong to more than one special category, you are still counted under only one horizontal reservation at the time of allotment.

How to Apply for TS PGECET Counselling 2027?

The entire application process for TS PGECET 2027 counselling is online. You must complete each step within the announced window — there is no provision for late registration or fee payment after the window closes. You must re-register and pay separately for each phase (Phase 1, Phase 2) in which you wish to participate.

Step 1: Online Registration

Visit the official counselling portal at pgecetadm.tgche.ac.in and log in using your TS PGECET 2027 Hall Ticket Number, rank card details, and date of birth. Complete the registration form by entering your personal details, contact information, academic background, category (OC/BC/SC/ST/EWS), special category status if applicable (PH, NCC, CAP, Sports), and your claim for local or non-local status. Pay the non-refundable counselling processing fee (Rs. 1,200 for General/OC/BC/EWS; Rs. 600 for SC/ST) online via debit card, credit card, or net banking. Download and save the acknowledgement receipt after successful payment.

Step 2: Document Upload and Verification

After registration, upload scanned copies of all required documents — academic certificates, community certificate, local area claim documents, and special category certificates — within the document upload window. Students claiming special category reservations (PH, NCC, CAP, Sports) or whose certificates need physical scrutiny will be shortlisted for in-person document verification at designated centres. In 2026, verification centres included JNTUH Kukatpally, University P.G. College Secunderabad, Nizam College Basheer Bagh, and Kakatiya University Warangal. For 2027, the official notification will confirm the centres and dates. After verification, TGCHE publishes the verified list of eligible students on the portal — download and check your status before the web options window opens.

Step 3: Web Options / Choice Filling

Once the verified list is published, the web options window opens. Log in to the portal and enter your college and programme choices in strict order of preference — your first choice is what you most want. You can add, edit, or rearrange your options freely until the editing window closes. Fill at least 15–20 choices to maximise your chances across all rounds. Do not limit yourself to top-ranked colleges — include a realistic spread across government, aided, and unaided colleges to ensure at least one allotment. Choices entered before the lock-in deadline are carried forward to the allotment algorithm.

Step 4: Seat Allotment Result

TGCHE publishes the provisional seat allotment result on the counselling portal. Log in with your credentials to view your allotted college and programme. The allotment is based on your rank, your web option order, category, geographic quota, and seat availability. If you are satisfied with the allotment, proceed to fee payment and reporting. If you are not allotted a seat in Phase 1 (because your rank did not reach any of your chosen options), you may register again for Phase 2 when it opens — Phase 2 covers all seats vacated or left unfilled after Phase 1.

Step 5: Fee Payment and College Reporting

Students who receive a seat allotment must pay the seat acceptance fee online within the stipulated window to confirm their seat. After fee payment, report to your allotted college with all original documents within the reporting schedule. The college verifies your originals, collects the required institutional fees for the academic year, and completes your admission. Failure to report within the deadline results in automatic cancellation of your allotment, and the seat moves back to the Phase 2 pool.

How to Lock Choices (Step-by-Step Guide)

The choice locking step finalises your web options list for the allotment algorithm. Choices not locked by the deadline are still considered if the system auto-locks them at the window’s close, but manually locking your choices is strongly recommended to confirm your preferred order is saved correctly.

Step 1: Visit the Official Counselling Portal

• Go to pgecetadm.tgche.ac.in.
• Click on the "Web Options Entry" or "Choice Filling" link on the homepage.

Step 2: Log In to Your Account

• Enter your TS PGECET Hall Ticket Number and registered password.
• Enter the security captcha and click Login.

Step 3: Build Your Choices List

• Click on "Add Choices" or "Search Colleges" to browse available institutes and programmes.
• Add each college–programme combination in your preferred order, with your top choice first.
• Use the drag-and-drop or reorder tools to arrange your list correctly.
• Include at least 15–20 choices covering a realistic spread of colleges and branches.

Step 4: Review and Edit Your Choices

• Review the complete ordered list on the summary screen.
• During the editing window, you may add, remove, or reorder choices as many times as you like.
• Once the editing window closes, no changes are possible regardless of whether you have formally locked.

Step 5: Lock Your Choices

• When satisfied, click the "Lock Choices" or "Submit Choices" button.
• A confirmation pop-up appears — read it carefully before confirming.
• Click "Confirm" to finalise. The portal displays a locked confirmation message.
• Download or print the locked choices acknowledgement for your records.

Once confirmed and the editing window closes, your choices are locked and cannot be changed. The allotment algorithm uses this locked list.

TS PGECET Counselling Documents Required 2027

You must upload scanned copies of the documents below at the time of online registration, and carry all originals when reporting to your allotted college. Missing or expired documents will result in rejection of your claim and may cause seat cancellation.

• GATE / GPAT Score Card (for students qualifying via GATE or GPAT; score must be from 2025, 2026, or 2027)

• Study Certificates (Class 6 through graduation) for local area claim — must show 4 consecutive years of qualifying study within Telangana
• Residence Certificate (7 or 10 years of continuous residence in Telangana, as an alternative local claim route)
• Employer Certificate (if claiming local status through parent’s government/PSU employment in Telangana)
• Community / Caste Certificate (BC/SC/ST) — must be in the Telangana Government prescribed format and issued on or after 1 January 2026
• EWS Certificate (for Economically Weaker Section claim) — income certificate must be dated on or after 1 January 2027
• PH / Disability Certificate (for PH/PWD horizontal reservation, if applicable)
• NCC Certificate (for NCC horizontal reservation, if applicable)

Note: Community certificates in another state’s format, or certificates older than the dates specified above, will not be accepted. You will be treated as Open Category in such cases, and no retrospective correction is allowed after the verification deadline.

How Much Money is Needed for TS PGECET Counselling 2027?

Two types of payments are involved in TS PGECET 2027 counselling — the non-refundable processing fee paid at registration, and the refundable security deposit paid at the time of seat acceptance and college reporting. These are separate from the annual tuition fees charged by your allotted college, which are governed by the TGCHE-approved fee structure for each institution.

Non-Refundable Counselling Processing Fee

This fee is paid online at the time of registration for each phase. It is non-refundable regardless of whether you receive a seat allotment, whether you report to the college, or whether you withdraw. Students who register for both Phase 1 and Phase 2 must pay this fee separately for each phase.

Refundable Security Deposit

On receiving a seat allotment and choosing to accept it, you pay a seat acceptance fee (security deposit) to confirm your seat before reporting to the college. The exact amount is specified in the official TS PGECET 2027 Counselling Brochure, published at pgecetadm.tgche.ac.in, and may differ by programme or institution type. The key refund and penalty rules are as follows:

If you withdraw after accepting a seat, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded — a penalty is deducted as per the official TS PGECET 2027 Counselling Brochure. Always verify the exact penalty slab from the official brochure at pgecetadm.tgche.ac.in before deciding to withdraw.

What Happens After Seat Allotment?

After the provisional seat allotment is released, you must decide how to proceed. TS PGECET 2027 counselling gives you the following options at each phase:

Option 1 — Accept the Allotted Seat and Report

• Pay the seat acceptance fee online within the payment window.
• Report to your allotted college with all original documents within the reporting schedule.
• Your admission is confirmed once the college verifies your documents and collects the institutional fees.
• Even after accepting a Phase 1 seat, you may choose to register for Phase 2 web options in an attempt to upgrade to a better college or programme. If Phase 2 allots you a new seat, you must then decide between retaining Phase 1 or moving to Phase 2 — you cannot hold both.

Option 2 — Do Not Report (Reject Current Allotment)

• If you do not pay the seat acceptance fee or do not report within the deadline, your Phase 1 allotment is automatically cancelled.
• Your seat re-enters the Phase 2 pool for redistribution.
• You can still register fresh for Phase 2 and receive a new allotment from the expanded seat pool.
• Note: You must re-register and pay the non-refundable processing fee again for Phase 2.

Option 3 — Formally Withdraw After Reporting

• If you have already paid the seat acceptance fee and reported to the college, but decide you do not want the seat, you may withdraw formally through the official process.
• Withdrawal must be initiated through the counselling portal within the prescribed deadline.
• A penalty is deducted from the security deposit; the remainder is refunded as per the official brochure schedule.
• If you withdraw after accepting a seat, the seat acceptance fee is not fully refunded — a penalty is deducted as per the official TS PGECET 2027 Counselling Brochure.

Phase 3 / Spot Admission Round

• If seats remain vacant after Phase 2 reporting, TGCHE may conduct a Spot Admission Round (Phase 3).
• This round is conducted physically at a designated venue — students report in person, fill choices on the spot, and receive allotment and admission on the same day or within a few days.
• Only students who have not accepted any seat in Phases 1 or 2 are eligible to participate in the Spot Round.
