New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) is inviting applications for admission to its Joint PhD Course in collaboration with University of Queensland (UQ). Interested candidates can apply online till March 17, 2024.

IIT Delhi will offer the program through the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR). UQIDAR aims to train a significant number of students through the joint PhD programme, with academic guidance from professors at both the University of Queensland and IIT Delhi. The programme offers students the opportunity to study in both India and Australia.

Students from India need to apply for admission as an i-student. These i-students will start their studies at IIT Delhi for the first year, then continue at UQ for one year or more before concluding the remainder of their studies back at IITD.

Who are Eligible for the Program?

Here is a detailed structure of the eligibilty criteria you would need to fulfill to apply for the program:

Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology	CGPA of 6.50 on a 10.00 point scale Aggregate percentage of 65% First Class (wherever awarded)	CGPA of 6.00 on a 10.00 point scale Aggregate percentage of 60% Minimum 55% in other academic examinations	No requirement. However, a high score in GATE, UGC-NET,CSIR,ICAR, ICMR, DST-INSPIRE will be given due consideration.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology	CGPA of 8.00 on a 10.00 point scale Aggregate percentage of 80% First Class (wherever awarded)	CGPA of 7.50 on a 10.00 point scale Aggregate percentage of 75% Minimum 55% in other academic examinations	No requirement for candidates from CFTI’s. Eligible Indian students will receive a scholarship package as follows:

In Year 1 (at IITD), they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 41,000.

In Year 2 (at UQ), they will be provided with an annual stipend of A$ 32,192.

For Years 3 and 4 (back at IITD), they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 45,000.

Additionally, they will receive a relocation grant of A$5200 to facilitate travel between Delhi and Brisbane. They will receive one-policy overseas student health cover during their second year in Brisbane, and Indian students will not have to pay for UQ tuition. However, for the year they spend at UQ, they will have to pay A$324 Student Services and Amenities Fee.
