Kerala University Admission 2026 runs through two parallel tracks. Undergraduate programmes in arts, science, and commerce use a Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) driven entirely by Plus Two merit. Engineering and B.Tech admissions are routed through the state-level KEAM entrance exam conducted by CEE Kerala. Law admissions also go through CEE Kerala via a separate entrance test.

Postgraduate admissions to the University Teaching Departments use a departmental entrance exam followed by a CAP allotment. The MBA at the Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) runs its own admission round based on KMAT, CAT, or CMAT scores followed by a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Admission Update:
  • FYUGP (BA, B.Sc, B.Com and allied UG): Second allotment published on June 24, 2026. Community Quota first allotment released on July 8, 2026. Supplementary allotment ongoing.
  • PG CSS (Teaching Departments): Second allotment published on July 10, 2026. Spot admissions (SC/ST) on July 16 and general spot admissions on July 17, 2026.

  • FYUGP application fee is payable online at the time of registration. SC/ST candidates pay a concessional fee. Check the official FYUGP Prospectus 2026 at admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in/fyugp2026 for the current fee amount.

  • Kerala University PG PhD registration fee is INR 800, payable online through the Research Portal.

Candidates with NCC, NSS, Student Police Cadet, or Scout and Guide certificates get an additional 15-mark bonus added to their index mark. Fill in all eligible bonus claims before the registration closes.

Kerala University FYUGP Selection Criteria 2026

Selection for FYUGP seats is based purely on the marks secured in the Plus Two or Higher Secondary examination. There is no entrance test for BA, B.Sc, or B.Com streams. The CAP system prepares a merit list and allots seats in a single-window process covering all government, aided, and self-financing affiliated colleges.

  • Merit Seats are filled irrespective of community or category.
  • Community Quota Seats (10% in forward community aided colleges and 20% in backward community aided colleges) are filled based on community certificates.
  • Reservation Seats cover SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, Differently Abled, Transgender, and Sports categories as per Kerala Government norms.
  • Sports Quota has a separate provisional rank list published by the university.
  • Tiebreakers are applied as per the university’s published guidelines in the FYUGP Prospectus.

How to Apply for Kerala University FYUGP 2026?

  • Register on the official portal at admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in/fyugp2026.
  • Pay the application fee online. SC/ST candidates are charged a concessional fee. Refer to the FYUGP Prospectus 2026 for the exact amounts.
  • Enter Plus Two marks and fill in course preferences in order of priority.
  • Upload required documents including nativity, community certificate (if applicable), and marksheet.
  • Check the trial allotment and finalise preferences before the first allotment round.
  • Accept the allotted seat and pay the admission fee within the fee payment window to confirm admission.

Note: Candidates must fill in as many course preferences as possible during FYUGP registration. A narrower preference list reduces chances of getting a seat in later allotment rounds.

Kerala University Admissions: Students' Opinion

  • BA
  • M.Sc

AI-Generated Summary based on 187 Reviews

For the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History at Kerala University, the application process requires completion of Higher Secondary Education, with admissions based largely on 12th-grade marks. General category students typically need a minimum of 80% in their 12th exams to be competitive, although some reviews suggest the requirement could be around 70%, emphasizing a strong academic record is critical. SC/ST candidates benefit from reservation policies, potentially easing the percentage requirement slightly.

The application is available online on the university's official website, and the process is user-friendly, including simple online submission and subsequent allotment based on marks. Being a government college, Kerala University does not offer a management quota; all admissions are merit-based on prior performance in higher secondary exams. With over 800 new admissions annually, the institution experiences high demand and maintains a transparent and straightforward admissions process. An admission fee of INR 2000 is required upon acceptance, and original higher secondary certificates must be submitted.

The timeline generally involves applying online and awaiting allotment notifications, typically occurring about two weeks after initial application submission. This rigorous emphasis on merit ensures only academically strong candidates are admitted to the BA History program.
