Punjab Scholarship: Punjab CM Launches a new Scholarship Program for SC Students to Promote Free Higher Education; Check Details

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amrinder Singh has launched a Punjab scholarship scheme to benefit the poor SC students.

On the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, Captain Amrinder Singh introduced the 'Dr. BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme' which will benefit over 3 lakh SC students of Punjab.

Captain Amarinder Singh informed about the launch of the Punjab Scholarship scheme on his twitter post.

"Today on Valmiki Jayanti we have formally launched Dr BR Ambedkar Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for providing a 100% fee waiver to our SC students. This will benefit over 3 lakh poor SC students every year & they will not be required to pay any upfront fees to Govt/Private Institutes," the tweet says.

Students from the scheduled caste category will not be required to pay any payment to any government and private institutes in the state.

The motto behind the Dr. Ambedkar Post-Matric SC Scholarship scheme or the Punjab Scholarship is to provide free higher education for poor SC students. 

By launching the Punjab scholarship scheme on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, captain Amrinder Singh had also laid the foundation stone for Amritsar Ram Tirath.

Along with the above, the Chief Minister of Punjab also inaugurated an ITI named Ram Tirath Industrial Training Institute with the purpose of a skill development center to prepare SC students for competitive exams.

The CM informed that the scheme is fully initiated by the state government and the contribution of the central government is zero. 

The central government deprived the poor SC students earlier with abrupt withdrawal of ₹280 crore aid to the state.

Under this Punjab Scholarship scheme, the Institute of the state will provide free education to poor SC students against direct subsidy from the state government.

Meanwhile, the Punjab State Government also announced the ETT exam dates. Elementary Teacher Training exam will be conducted on November 29, 2020. A total of 2364 posts of teachers are to be provided.
