Remarks

The college runs under VTU( Visvesvaraya Technological University) and hence the holidays and exams as well as the schemes which we follow keep changing or are extremely undesirable. But the college is working it's way to attain an autonomous status and things will definitely turn around then. I would have been happier if there were a few more events or fests in the college but that's all in due time.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum gets worse as the years go by. New and new schemes are developed. Some of them make it completely difficult for the students to score their marks. Whereas it also depends on the work put in by the students. The exam structure consists for your internals and externals. A total of both of these is 100 marks. Your internals are a total of 40 marks in which you have 3 tests of 30 marks each and an average of these tests are taken, and you have your assignments or seminars for the remaining 10. Your externals will be out of 100 which will later be converted to 60.

Placement Experience

4

The placements provided in the college are a wonderful opportunity for the students if SJEC (St Joseph's Engineering College). There are ample training and coaching programs conducted by the college inorder to promote and help all students who make an attempt for a college placement. These training programs are for every single student in the college and trains you in aptitude, public speaking, building confidence, interviews, problem solving, logical reasoning, communication skill etc.

College Events

4.5

1. Milan - it is the biggest event in the college which brings a single day of celebration of 3 different festivals : Onam, Krishna Janmashtami, and another festival. It's a day of many cultural programs along with a dance session in the end Many outfits of traditional wear can be seen around and many different colours 2. Tiara - it's a 2 day fest that occurs in the college. It contains technical and non-technical events which are hosted by the various departments of the college. It is an open event so people from other colleges too can participate. Then you have your formal branch entries, engineers day, informal branch entries, sports day etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is pretty feasible. I myself being an NRI pay an all-time low fee. Generally NRIs who come in either come in through management. I made an attempt for the entrance exam due to which I had recieved a ?60,000 concession on my total fee for the year as well as the following years. I paid a total of ?1,34,000 in my first year since you obviously have an NRI charge. By my second year I had paid a total amount of ?1,07,500.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides scholarships. There are quite a few. Many students apply for these scholarships and recieve an amount of ?45,000 too. The best scholarship is ofcourse of the one where you get good grades. There are day scholars who have scored excellent marks and come under a certain category who have applied for a scholarship that leads them to paying just ?2,000 for an entire academic year.

Campus Life

5

The extracurricular's in the college are really good. There are plenty of opportunities for students in sports, as well as other areas such as editting and photography. Sports in the college is run in a good manner, there are tournaments between classes (interclass) held every odd sem in various sports like cricket, football, basketball and many more sports. There is a sports day too where athletics and tug of war takes place. There is ample opportunities to be able to try for the college teams and to showcase your talents. Labs are well maintained and are run on daily basis. A large number of students use the labs as well as libraries daily.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are extremely helpful. There are a bunch of seniors who keep visiting the college. Some whom we meet while we study too, some who have passed out way before we have taken an admission into the college. But all these seniors who have completed and experienced their education and college life in the college are always ready to mingle and make junior friends and to help them out in all their needs.

Admission

First you have to enroll yourself into the entrance test. I enrolled to comedk. It's an online procedure where you'll have to fill in your details and upload some documents. After this you will be sent a confirmation and you must keep checking the comedk site for all updates as to when the exam is and all other details. Then asnwer your exam and attend the counseling session where you'll choose your preferred college and you'll have to make a small payment. Then you'll get a letter of admission into the college which expires in certain number of days prior to which you complete your admission process.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty in the college has both their pros and cons. Generally most of the lecturers that are there are extremely helpful and co-ordinate well. All the lecturers I have met through lectures or through events and other sorts of activities have been extremely helpful, are well knowledgeable and have a unique way of expressing their views and communicating with the students.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
