Remarks

The list of positives is so long that you will hardly get to experience the negetives, but like all other universities we too face some issues, which we resolve collectively by negotiating with the authority concerned.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of ground (hiking, photographic, music, quiz club and many more)apart from the academic studies, here the exam is conducted twice a year in mid May and mid December, but internal assessments are conducted weekly.

Placement Experience

4.5

There are brilliant scopes for placements from all 3 faculties i.e engineering, arts and science. For engineering top firms of this country and also from various parts of the world recruit students with high package, but the arts and science faculty are not lagging behind, they create scope for jobs in media, analytics, education, research labs .

College Events

3.5

The yearly fest called Sanskrit is organized by 3 faculties individually, also freshers, various cultural events take place regularly. Unlike other universities here you get to experience a perfect balance of cultural and academic initiatives.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very feasible compared to other universities, for engineering is less than 5000 a year, and for science and arts it's around 1300 yearly(maybe some extra charges for labs in science faculty)

Fees and Financial Aid

Financial assistance is provided by the university for the students belonging to lower income group. Also on special request hostelling fees can be resuced by the authority. Apart from that there's one scholarship by alumni association also.

Campus Life

4.5

The lab in science and engineering faculties are one one of the best among the country. The blue earth machine lab is oldest mechanical engineering lab in ASIA. The science faculty provides a great opportunity for higher research works.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Mess charge is around 2000 per Month, and rent is 35 per month. At the mess you get 2 times food a day, in the morning and one at the nights, usually the food consists lentils, subzi, fish, chicken and veg options.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is very much strong in the university, the take part in many events and help us a lot, the run a separate alumni association which proves regular financial assistance to needy students.

Admission

For department of Economics the merit list out of 100 is prepared by taking 50% from admission test(syllabus is +2 maths) and 50% of +2 marks. For example a 90% in boards and 30(out of 50) in entrance makes your merit score 75. This method of admission started from 2019, and this year the cut off was around 76.

Faculty

4.5

Jadavpur University, Department of Economics provides some of the best faculties of this country who are also internationally renowned. The department of comparative literature and film studies are among the rare gems of this country.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for applying for internships after the 3rd semester, and students can apply for placements only after 4th semester. Companies like Ericsson, Ernst and Young, JPMG makes visits our department for mostly analyst roles for economic and fundamental trading decisions. The highest offer made was 45LPA while the average is 7.5LPA. The median pakage is 8LPA. Almost 90% students secure placements after completing their degree since the Training and placement cell is pretty proactive in securing good company visits. I plan for investing and analyst roles in banking companies. I would sit for placements hoping for the same.

I am both positive and negative marks started with positive the factories where very good well well qualified there is no ragging the environment is eco friendly people very helpful there is no senior junior bond everyone is equal. The negative were enormous starting with the infrastructure in some places there are new buildings halls which are not even maintained and that's the biggest problem facilities are not given to student in the hostel so much carelessness is there in the routine work people are very lazy to do their working time authority is very slow to do their workrecreational activities other than academics are very less a student didn't get the time for recreational and facilities were also not there I come modern infrastructure universities should be so we have to change this things to do the university prosper in the later year in the first and foremost thing is determination a that everyone should give efforts to make our university Pride and worthful.
