Remarks

Faculties are somewhat good but management is worst. Placement will be less than 15%.

Course Curriculum Overview

Courses set by west bengal University of technology is meant for bookish knowledge, practical classes are very less for the whole course. Some irrelevant papers are they in the courses, instead they can add some new languages to the course. Not a research driven paper is there.

Completing B.Tech from a small college like techno India Banipur may cost you in term of placement. Additionally for all the trainings college will charge you for extra amount. College will not return advanced amount and give some silly reason.

College Events

We used to organize one 1 tech fest, intra College sports competition, inter college football tournament, freshers welcome party, annual fest. We have our cultural committee as well as sports committee who is helping to make these events sucessful from last 10 years.

I took a education loan to bare my college fees from syndicate bank. No scholarship scheme is there from college end for the brilliant students.

Campus Life

Gender ratio is 2:1 (male:female). In terms of extra-curricular activities we used to organize one 1 tech fest, intra College sports competition, inter college football tournament, freshers welcome party, annual fest. We have our cultural committee as well as sports committee who is helping to make these events sucessful.

Hostel Facilities

No from the beginning I used to stay in my own flat/room along with my friends, in terms of rent we used to pay 2000 per head, for food another 2000, extra wages 2000, so total 6000 is enough if you are staying nearby.

Alumni/Alumna

Student level community is good, starting from 1st year to 4th year. I got many help from seniors starting from study to personal life during the college days.

Admission

Opted for WEBJEE in December 2013 and ranked 6000, then got a to techno India Banipur by online counseling on july 2014. Then started College by july 15 2014 there was very less paper work on the first day of college with a small introduction class.

Faculty

It will be 5 days class Tuesday to Saturday morning 10:30am to 5pm. Faculties are with avarage qualifications. Most of them are having post graduation in BSC computer science / M. Tech/ MSC. Lab assistants are B-Tech. Only a few teacher are highly educated with a good experience.

Likes

The IIT brand value.Great placements and internship opportunities
Competitive peers and lots of ongoing.Great environment
Lush green campus, lots to explore and great infrastructure

Dislikes

Rigorous academics, hectic exam schedules
Hostel infrastructure is quite old and mess food quality is just acceptable.
Professors teaching style can be quite boring as well

Placement Experience:

Placement statistics of IIT Kharagpur is excellent with multiple offers made across software, quant, consulting , analytics and core domain.Major companies like Google, Microsoft, Optiver, Visa,Mastercard visit the campus each year for recruitment.Highest packages are offered by quant companies and can go upto 2 - 2.5 crore per annum

Good Internship Opportunities

Likes

Helpful Faculties, the faculties over here helped us through out the course
Good clean and green campus with water supply at different places in the campus
Structured syllabus for industrial readiness in the curriculum

Dislikes

Nothing such I have disliked, but some classrooms projector did not functioned properly
Some time the guards unnecessarily behaved rude which I hated the most

Placement Experience:

The placement cell provides us with training programs and internships and also if the students are careful and disciplined in the classroms they can crack through job interviews. There is mock viva at the end semester and also some on campus hiring companies came in our college.

BCREC a underrated college

Likes

In my batch there are 64 student and there is only 17 girls.so the girl boy ratio is good.
This college has the largest campus of all the college in the West Bengal so college campus is really good
As I am a student of information technology so they are teaching me the course subject and also soft skill subjects that can help me in my placement journey

Dislikes

The college is located in rural area which is the bad thing
The course curriculum is not at the level of IIT NITs as we are studying some subjects which are introduced in the late semester which IIT and it and study in their second or third semester
The third thing I don't like is that the Student of the college discriminate among each other like the local residents who are bengali's day prefered their friend as Bengali

Placement Experience:

The college average placement are 6 lakh per annum and in my branch out of 64 student only 30 God placement but the mistake is of the students because many companies are visiting our colleges but they couldn't find the talent required for the skilled person they required

Likes

The college provides a moderately good infrastructure so it is more or less good. However some lab equipments have gotten old so upgrading those would be appreciated.
The teachers and students are very friendly so interacting is very easy. Teachers are mostly experienced and quite knowledgeable in their field of expertise. However the college follows the curriculum suggested by makaut which feels outdated.

Dislikes

The college doesn't give any options to play anything in college in their free time so that's an issue in my opinion. Also college isn't keen on giving NOCs for internships. Also they don't tend to provide funding to projects developed by students.

Placement Experience:

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

mostly from end of third year students start getting campus placements and companies like TCS AND WIPRO HIRE MAJORITY of the students. The average package is 450000 and highest package every year goes upto 9-12 lakhs per annum. I want to go into core Electronics domain for which I am preparing for masters as no core electronics companies come in this college

GOOD College at low fees.

Likes

The campus is very big of the college which is about 50 acres and very greenly campus
The events and clubs with sports held in campus is very good and very happening
The placement opportunities in this college is very good and the faculties are very supportive

Dislikes

The infrastructure is bit old and renovates it bit very late which impact in bit difficulty
The senior are very supportive but at the same time they are very strict regarding the discipline which they call it ragging
The location of the college is bit outside of the main city so you can find it bit difficulty in your starting days of living here

Placement Experience:

Placement of my college are quite good with a avg package of 6 to 7 lpa and higest package of 45 lpa and this year the higest package is 75 lpa. The companies visited in my college are infosys, Capgemini,tcs,wipro, Mindtree,IBM, sometimes amazon also.The placement rate of the college is 85 to 95%.

Honest review about how i feel for this college

Likes

They have supportive teachers and they provide class notes and resources through digicampus app which is my personal favourite

Dislikes

Lack of quality desk and bench , no big board, they sat 3 students in a 2 bench space
They lack a bit of environment , means the infrastructure and the stress are not well maintained
The fees they charge they don't provide the necessary thing like they have organised a event called hackathon or any project idk

Placement Experience:

I don't have any plans for the placement as after completing my btech i will be going for the mtech and then phd, college will provide u the opportunities its just up to u how u grab them

Why GCECT stands out: My Perspective

Likes

The college have less number of students in total so the senior-junior bonding is very strong, providing a homely environment.
Both the teaching and non-teaching stuffs are quite good and supportive. The college also arrange those teaching stuffs as mentors, 5-6 students per mentor. Girl students are particularly provided with female teachers as mentors.
The college also have various active clubs like - Robotics, photography, drama, music, sports, astronomy etc.

Dislikes

The campus is full of greenery but little bit small.
The infrastructures are not that developed, like some projectors & computers are non functional.
The college have only three branches in B.Tech.

Placement Experience:

The average placement of my college 4-4.5 lpa. In CSE branch 70-75 % students gets oncampus placement.Some students go for offcampus placement, others go for GATE examination and government examinations.

Fair college according to me

Likes

The college management is really up to the mark. I am from the computer science and engineering department.
Good placements according to the amount you pay.
Good environment for coding and development.

Dislikes

There are a lot of extra clubs which are not so functional.
Hostels are good but not up to the mark .
The play ground is available but not inside the campus.

Placement Experience:

Our college provide really good placements if the student is really eligible for employment. There are adequate no. Of companies visiting the campus. Some big companies are - MICROSOFT, LAB VANTAGE, DELTAX, RTCAMP, DELOITTE, ACCENTURE, PERSISTENT SYSTEMS, IBM, MUSIGMA, TIGER ANALYTICS, KEY SIGHT TECHNOLOGIES, KEYENCE, MANIKARAN POWER, TCS, E&Y etc. The highest package is around 20 lpa and the avarage is around 5 - 6 lpa. Placements are better for cse, it and ece. The core branches have mediocre placements.

The library system is good. With many authors and writers available.
The faculty is helpful and coperative.The faculty helps the students in their studies and day to day problems faced in the college.
The classrooms are enough big to accommodate the strength chosen by the faculty.

Dislikes

The labs are not very well equipped. The monitors and PC are back dated versions.
The washrooms are not very well maintained and they stink.
The faculties are not very helpful in the project work and personal academic life of the students.

Placement Experience:

From 4th year students are allowed to sit for placement. Tcs, wipro, Capgemini are the mass recruiters of our college. Other companies visit as well Deloitte, accenture and many more. The average package being is 4 lakhs per annum and the highest being around 10 lakhs per annum.
