SRM University Chennai, B.Tech, Computer Science and Engineering

Reviewed on Jun 26, 2020

Remarks

Located near metropolitan city, Big campus, Good rank among private colleges. The best thing I like about the college is the freedom to pursue cocurricular and extra-curricular activities. I opted the course of computer science engineering because it is what will be the future of the world and I like coding.

Course Curriculum Overview

The syllabus is okay as far as the course is concerned but it is not relevant with the outside world as of now. The faculties are not very good as they are mostly pursuing PhD and dont have in-depth knowledge except very few.

Class Size: 50Course Fees: INR 350000 per year

Placement Experience

More than 200 companies visit the campus from all kinds of background. Different kinds of profiles are offered. The feedback about placement cell is good from the alumni. The network is good for getting jobs.

College Events

4.5

The campus life is very good compared to strict south indian colleges like VIT. The college has 2 festivals.Aaruush, the national level techno-management fest and one of the biggest technical fests of India. The other is Milan, cultural fest of SRM. The participation of both Milan and Aaruush is very good with a footfall of over 72,000 in Aaruush.

Campus Life

4.5

Sports facilities are okay but sub-par compared to other colleges. The wi-fi in the campus is good. The library and lab equipments are excellent. The research labs have very expensive equipments very rarely seen in a college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel infrastructure is not very nice. The beds are small, the bathrooms are very dirty and the mess food is very bad. The Apartments outside the college are easily available and very comfortable to stay in.

Overall Good Experience at EEC

Likes

good infrastructure, clean campus and well equipped classrooms and labs.
Faculty members are supportive and explain concepts clearly with practical examples.
Good placement opportunities, career guidance and opportunities to participate in activities.

Dislikes

The workload can be huge sometimes, especially during examinations and project submissions.
some subjects could include more practical and industry-oriented learning
More campus activities and student interactions opportunities would improve campus life.

Placement Experience:

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

This is the best college overall

Likes

The curriculum provided is really nice and understandable.
It is relevant and is effective as well.
The boy girl ratio is on the other hand a little less as in 45:15.

Dislikes

The way some facilities behave with students is really bad especially in our branch.
Some facilities are too rude and they often don’t want to listen to students point of view

Placement Experience:

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.

Placement Training and Career development at CIT

Likes

In my college , I experienced diversed equality and gained more knowledge by training staffs and assessments

Placement Experience:

One thing I really need to appreciate at CIT is its placement training program. The placement team conducts regular sessions on 1. aptitude 2. coding 3. communication skills 4. group discussions and 5. interview preparation which helped me feel more confident during placements. The trainers were friendly and always encouraged us to improve our skills step by step. They provide continuous guidance and feedback throughout the training process. Mock interviews and one to one assessments helped me to understand my strength and weak areas and I work on improvements . These sessions not only improved my technical and communication skills but also boosted my confidence . The placement training team played an important role in preparing me for career opportunities and industry expectation

They focus heavily on communication , technical knowledge and competitive preparation ,align students with what top companies expect ,and contiuosly push us to improve and meet industry standards. Their structured training helped me to clearly identify my strengths and work on my weak areas, which made a huge difference during interviews and boosted my overall confidence.
