Entrance Preview

Admission is based on Tamil nadu government board exams through general counseling process. Good cut-off score in physics, Chemistry and mathematics is required to get in (usually over 196/200). I am very interested in how physics is transformed for day to day operations.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course was designed with a mix of manufacturing, Thermal, Design and management paper each semester. Along with that personality development and other courses were included. Electives are offered only in the last couple of semesters depending on the student's interest.

Internships Opportunities

TVS, TAFE, Honeywell, The internship stipend was about INR 8000/month. Companies come to campus for interviews and sometimes offer campus placements with internship and some companies offer internships and based on the performance that can be converted into a full time position.

Placement Experience

4.5

The manufacturing companies in general offer a package of about 3.25 lakhs/annum and service companies offer ranges from 3 - 6 lakhs/annum. Participated companies included TVS group, TAFE, Honeywell, Bhramos, Ford, Royal enfield, Harita seatings, TCS, Wipro.

College Events

4.5

The college has festivals with other colleges and for schools. There are tech fests and also cultural fests. Students are encouraged to volunteer, participate in these activities to improve their organizing and leadership skills.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is standardized across Tamilnadu. The students who got in government quota has to pay around INR 15000 per year whereas other students has to pay around INR 50000 per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college does not to my knowledge offers any scholarships. Educational loans can be availed by students through banks based on their requirement.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio in mechanical department is mostly males. However in other departments the gender ratio is good. The college provides various opportunities, events organized by clubs like SAE, Mechanical engineering association and other departments. Cross department events were also organized and encouraged. The labs are a bit old though adequate.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is nice and comfortable with wifi facility available (although it was spotty at times). The hostel has its own gym and provides vegetarian food. The quality of food is ok.

Alumni/Alumna

The college is over 50 years old and has a strong Alumni network. The college conducts events for yesteryear students an opportunity for those students to meet their long lost college friends. Also the college asks some senior alumni to come as guest speakers and share their experiences to the students.

Exam Structure

Depending on the exam. All the labs were cool. However manufacturing exams left me with jitters but mathematics and thermal engineering papers left most others in jitters.

Faculty

3.5

Most of the faculties are good. However some faculties needed improvement. Most of the older faculties were very experienced and their teaching was great. Newer faculties did not have that much experience but were easily approachable by the students for any clarification / support.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
