Remarks

A new life will began at here. The career is been set. Also it is different from school life which taught us a lot. More skills will be developed and mos importantly more contacts will get close till your life.

Entrance Preview

Admission in made by TNEA based on ur cut off mark in physics maths and chemsitry. I choose ECE. Our college is famous for mechanical engineering. Recently Mechatronics dept has also opened.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum of each semester shall normally be a blend of Theory courses not exceeding six (6) and practical courses not exceeding three (3). However, the total number of courses per semester shall not exceed 9.General electives are courses offered by different departments. These courses do not have any prerequisites and could be chosen as electives by students of any branch. Students should opt for general electives only from other departments and will be permitted to register with the approval of both the heads of departments. Maximum number of credits for general electives are 6 (six) and are restricted to study during 6th, 7th and 8th semesters. One credit also available. Picking 3 one credits will skip one elective in curriculam.

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college provides. Internship is based on the company you have placed. If you have to take own internship program , yes the college allows. The stipend range between 20k-12k . Intern offrering companies are honeyewll, temenos, aricent, wipro, infosys, zoho, visualbi, microsoft, athenahealth, inautix.

Placement Experience

90% of students have been placed till now. Also many companies have been visiting so that the rate may increase upto 95%. Honeywell-5.5 lpa, visualbi-4.6 lpa, voonik-6 lpa, zoho-4.6 lpa.

College Events

Thiagarajar College of Engineering has got various clubs and activities grouped under the Cultural Association. The Cultural Association aims at identifying the various hidden talents of our students and to bring them out. To organise Competitions to identify and encourage the potentials. To organise Training/Demos/Exhibitions to hone the skills of students.To sponsor students for Inter-college cultural events to enable them to prove their mettle. To organise separate Inter-school cultural competitions for rural and urban students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees through counselling (Aided) Rs 16000 per year (excluding tuition fees Rs 4ooo)Counselling(Self supported) Rs 45000 per year. Management quota Rs 70000 per year. No capitation fees. Please note this does not include Hostel and mess fees.Exam fees for eery semester will be 3k .For hostel it takes 33k -43k and monthly 2k for food.

Fees and Financial Aid

Those who get admission through TNEA they are allowed to get scholorships. The Scholorship amount for general category daysholar will be 6k. sc/st daysholar get 11k . General Category hosteller get 10k sc/st hosteller get abobe 25k.

Campus Life

Gender ratio will be 3:5 which is boys : girls. Only mechanical and civil have higher gender ratios . Monthly once there will be workshops conducted by college an many companies conduct their workshops. There is a student councellor cell where they give many tips for the lie and gave confidence. All the students get their new friends .

Hostel Facilities

For hostel it takes 33k -43k per year and monthly 2.5k for food. The room will be shared by 4 members. For final years the room will be shared by two members. The college fulfills the facilities in hostel. Only vegeterian food is distributed.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Exam Structure

The exam structure contain two parts. Internal Assessment and Terminal Exam. Three Internals will Takes place for every month. The total marks is 50. Out of three Exams only the best two will be taken and converted out of 40 marks remaining 10 marks will be based on assignments. So internal assessment calculates for 50. Terminal exam is for 100 marks and calculated for 50 marks. Same procedure for lab exams too.

Faculty

Most of the faculties of our college has finished Ph.D and i want to make one point that the count is higher than any other colleges in Tamilnadu. The faculties and student relationship is very good. They are the one helping in shaping our career. The faculties are assigned based on their particular area of interest so that they teach well also useful to students.

Here there is no gender separation like boys and girls should be seperate and stuff like that.
It is a autonomous college so courses are changing regularly with the shift in education
Here we have relative grading system therefore there is no ranking and easy to get good grades

Dislikes

We have to pay yearly fees not semester wise it difficult for low income earning families
Money is collected from students for all events happening in the college.
There is a rush for collection of fees at the start of each year and unpaid students might face absent issues

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are moderate but i don't know much about other courses but for civil engineering the average placed ctc is 3 lakh per annum one or two students got higer package but most of the students got lower package as a fresher.

From 5 th semester onwards students are eligible for campus placements. Lots of companies. The highest package is 26 lakhs and the average package is 1.5 lakhs. 98% of students get placed. Doing my best in a career as an entrepreneur.

"A Golden era of my college life"

Since I scored 98 % in the 12th public exam, I was eligible for OBC govt quota reserved seats. So we need to pay 5000 as a reservation fee during counseling conducted by the Tamilnadu government. If we avail of the reserved seats, the educational course fee will be reduced based on our reserved quota (for me, OBC).
