Remarks

Pros - Extremely helpful alumni network (talk about any reputed company or masters college in the world, you're mostly going to find a BITSian connection in form of 1st/2nd/3rd degree) - Experienced faculty & teaching assistants with good technical projects available under them - Excellent on-campus student crowd coming from different states across India with no reservation allowances like other colleges in India - Neat & clean in-campus facility - Practice school offers bonus industry experience (twice in four years) Cons - Mess food can be better, not the best - More entrepreneurial drive from the college can bring out more based on the potential of the students - Online classes facility wasn't available - not sure if there still is Admission Process I had to give a BITSAT Exam. Based on the marks, we got the campus allotment. There was an in-campus interview on day 0 of college. Got to know about this college from a relative. Google searched to find this in top colleges & chose.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I choose this course because i wanted to build career in computer science and built software products. 1:50 ratio of faculty to students (based on the avg students enrolled in one class) Faculty are highly knowledgeable and keep shifting internally from all 3 campus under the university. They have rich experience in teaching and always there to support students for any help in their career. Faculty uses online CRM for managing courses and provide well detailed & structured classes. Exams were thrice in each semester. Each year had two semesters. The exams were into three parts T1, T2 & Comprehensive examination. Exams were quite difficult to crack & highly competitive because it was cumulative based. You're required to attend classes with focus to be at par with other students.

Internships Opportunities

5

There are two programmes - Practice School - 1: 2 Months (Second year summer vacation) Practice School - 2: Whole semester in the 4 year There is also an option to swap Practice School - 2 with thesis on campus, who are looking to publish paper or do research under professors. These program have many listed companies offering internships as part of the curriculum. Students are graded based on their performance during these programs. They are allocated companies based on cutoff list & grades. Companies are located across India & have tie up with BITS Pilani from past many years Projects during the internship depends on the type of company & potential seen in student by the company. If students are willing, they can learn a lot given this opportunity.

Placement Experience

4.5

In your 4th year, you are eligible for sitting for placements. There are plenty of top companies like Amazon, Google, Ebay, Paypal, Tesco, Flipkart to name a few that come from across the country to hire BITSians based on merit. Highest salary was offered by Google @1 CR and close to 90% students got placed during our batch. There were few who didn't get placed based on low CGPA or not being able to crack interviews. I wanted to be involved in startups so i didn't sit for placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees can be hiked without prior notice. During our batch the fees had shoot up to 40% each semester. In comparison with other colleges, the fees is still competitive for the value and experience you gain during the course. I do not have enough information about scholarship and financial assistance at the moment. The college helps you with it, however check the website or contact the college administration

Campus Life

5

We have an annual technical fest called Quartz in March. Then we also have a cultural fest called Waves in October. Besides this we have an intra college fest called Quartz in February. Books & journals are in plenty in the library Classroom has TV & projector along with large size white board for faculty to write. The furniture is new & there is proper cleaning of classrooms every day. We have SAC - sports activity centre. It offers more than 10+ games including basketball ground, professional level cricket ground, professional level indoor badminton & table tennis court. There is long tennis as well and wide range of indoor games available. There is also a gym. Besides sports there are many official & unofficial technical & non-technical clubs in the college. Recruiting members of these clubs are open & frequently keep hiring students on campus every semester. There is intranet on campus called DC. All communications happen via. DC in campus.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

During out batch in 2010, students were given their private room with a table, bed, chair & cupboard. Some hostel rooms had connected balcony as well. Bathrooms were shared. Furniture is new & hostel are well maintained. There is a common room in each hostel with TV & Table Tennis setup. Hostels are separate for boys & girls. There are two mess options in college which you can subscribe for every semester. The meal is okay, not the best in taste but edible. There are cafe, official canteen & restaurants on campus for alternate paid meal options. Hostels are affordable & registration process is smooth. On day 1 of your college at the time of registration, you're allocated the rooms automatically.

Interview Experience

5

There was a very basic interview, but no group discussion. In the interview - they asked two questions 1.) tell me about yourself 2.) what do you expect out of these 4 years of experience No preparation is required, interview is just a formality.

Other Applied Colleges

IIIT Delhi | Computer Science

I cracked BITSAT exam & found it higher ranked in comparison with IIIT Delhi as a brand and facilities. So i choose BITS PILANI over this college

The curriculum is the same across all the 5 colleges It's too outdated to be studied Not relevant for modern-day job markets Students often have to study different materials to crack a job. Youtibe is best solution to clear the concepts

Placement Experience:

I have no clue but the highest placements are in Computer and IT branches. Civil has probably the least placement. The quality is good thanks to IIT and NIT being in the same campus thus the big companies that come to those colleges also come to our colleges but they prefer those students more because NIT and IIT are more prestigious colleges.

Campus placement is okay okay but not that great . Mech and civil don't have that much package avg of around 6 lakh and i guess only 10-11 got placed .. and 16-17 was eligibile for it. For eligible to placement you don't have any backlog in any subject and some minimum cgpa required too
