Christ University, Tripe major Bsc
Reviewed on Jan 6, 2016

Remarks

Christ university is a great nourishing ground.Though overall the college is ectremely strict,it helps in the development of students. The staff are qualified and good teachers. The university is buzzing with activity but sometimes we are not able to participate in some activities because studies is the priority. Especially for triple major science students.

Entrance Preview

The selection for christ university was on the basis of an interview.Prior to it, the institute views your academic report from class 10 onwards.Though i sat for medical entrance exams like AIPMT, WBJEE, COMEDK, i was selected in dentistry and pharmacology, neither which i wanted to pursue. I decided that biotechnology was a subject of equal interest for me.Christ university is ranked in the top 10 colleges for science in most of the lists sublished. I was also equally impressed with the campus and staff on visiting it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course is a triple major in 3 subjects, biotechnology, chemistry and zoology. None of the subjects is an honours subject and each of them is given equal importance. The curriculum is extremely vast and includes a very detailed study of the biological sciences. In biotechnology we study microbiology, biostatistics, genetics all in the first year.

Internships Opportunities

I have not yet attended an internship as i am in my first year of college. The internship programs commence from the second year of studies. The internships done in this course varies widely.

Placement Experience

3

Usually students doing a triple major wish to continue studies in PG rather than immediately joining a job. One may follow up with an Msc in the subject of interest, followed by a doctorate degree others do an MBA

College Events

4

The college has a rich culture. From promoting ones ethnicity on the college's ethnic day to flash mobs each department has its own fest,as well as inter-deanery fests and inter college ones.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is 75,000 for the first two semesters and 55,000 for the consecutive semesters afterwards. There are fee concessions for the underprivileged.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is allowed in the third year after a close observation of a students performance. Prior to that, fee concession is available to the students who require it when they apply for it

Campus Life

3.5

All extracurriculars are available on the campus like dance, music, sports. Each student is required to do two certificate courses madatorily. Students can then take any course which they wish to.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are very few hostel rooms,in ratio to the number of students studying in the college. There is plenty of food available to the students and of variety. The food is a bit pricey but very good.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students are very friendly with the juniors. There is a strict no ragging policy on campus so there are no negative interactions between the two.

Exam Structure

Christ believes in a continuous evaluation systerm. So our report cards are not based on one examination. Rather several sets of exams, assignments, class tests, projects are compiled.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty are all very qualified.Like every other institute,it has a mixture of average and very good teachers. The teachers are usually very approachable.Though the college runs on strict, othrodox rules and regulations.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There wasn't really any. It was mostly the friendliness of the profs that pulled me into maths. Do note that in IISc, the first three semesters are common and you pick majors after that. The maths curriculum prepares you for a future in either industry or academia. Moreover, one can take courses in other departments to help their industry pursuits. Only way would be to make some courses more interactive, but this hasn't been a problem for me personally. Most high level courses have two exams. Sometimes not even that. And exams generally aren't difficult for someone who has kept up with the course.

Placement Experience:

from 6th semister onwards students are eligible for pkacements. I dont know about the companies of placements as iam a fresher here. The placements here are really good in this course. After Msc forensic science the annual package in an average here is 2-5 lakhs. Almost 80% of forensic students get placement here. As iam pursuing my bachelors here, iam thinking of writing the entrance exam for NFSU gujarath for my Masters.

Placement Experience:

Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
