Remarks

The 3 years in Malda Women's College opened my eyes to what the world is like! It opened my mind to new forms of literature and authors, poetry, and prose. And I know for a fact that I will look back at these years fondly.

Course Curriculum Overview

The B.A [Hons] English Course is a 3-year course with an emphasis on research and analysis of the texts provided during the course. We have group discussions, essay writing, and internal assessments all through the course.

Placement Experience

3.5

College comes up with a lot of opportunities for students. A number of workshops and guest lectures are arranged for us so that we can get an idea of the knowledge required for a job in the real world in our field.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The B.A [Hons] courses cost around Rs 1237 per year and the total tuition fee is Rs 3700 for the whole course. Malda Women's College is a government-funded college and hence the fee is low. However, the education imparted is par excellence.

Campus Life

The facilities in the college are just great! We have wifi enabled classrooms and the whole campus is under CCTV surveillance 24x7, for our security. Apart from that, we have well-equipped labs and lecture halls.

Admission

The admission process is lengthy. You are eligible for the B.A Hons courses only if you have passed 10+2 with 45% and a 50% in your Honours subject. Then if your name features on the merit list, you are called for counselling.

Faculty

4

All our teachers are extremely understanding. There is never a day when a teacher has reprimanded a student for being unable to do something! We always know they have our backs when it comes to academic developments.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is perceived as average , lacking specific elements that might make it stand out. In my case, the motivation was not to waste a year by opting for a drop. The flexibility in attendance which let me focus on other interests. The curriculum is same as MAKAUT, and the exam frequency is also controlled by MAKAUT .Areas of improvement is infrastructure and better faculty.
