Remarks

Institute management was excellent. Course curriculum was balanced but hectic. Placements were excellent. Overall experience was very good and worthwhile.

Entrance Preview

I took West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations rank was 563. I got admitted to Production Engineering among the options available. There was no interview only counselling.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was a mix of theory and practice a mix of Mechanical Engineering and Management. There was a good exposure to all engineering disciplines in the first two years and then specialization in the 3rd and 4th years.

Internships Opportunities

We went twice for internship once to Jessop during 3rd year and another to Paharpur Cooling Towers during 4th year. Both were organized by the Institute. Duration of each was 4-6 weeks. The experience was good. We had to submit a report and appear for Viva-Voce after the completion of the Internship. Stipend was minimal.

Placement Experience

5

Placement was 100% job opportunities were many. There was absolutely no grievance regarding placement and job opportunities. At that time there was no craze for software industries but still placement was 100% and we are proud of it.

College Events

4.5

The Institute has a number of events like freshers' welcome, fests etc. There was a lot of activity and enjoyment in such events. The department also regularly holds Re-union annually.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It was a government sponsored college and hence fee was very less compared to private institutes. I do not exactly remember the figures but it was around Rs 100 only per month. Examination fees were extra but not much.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course itself was sponsored by the State Government and hence there was no question of any other scholarship. Loan was absolutely not necessary and admission to the course was completely merit-based and students from any section of the society could afford the fees without any loan.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life was enjoyable with extracurricular activities, sports, fests, robotics, debates, extempores, musical events and so on. Every sturent could participate in any event as per his,her desire.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

It was not a residential programme and hence hostel was not compulsory. Hostel facilities were ok not very good and mess food was hopeless. But life at the hostel was enjoyable. Hostel was not within the campus but within 1 km from the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is good but needs to be improved. We keep in touch with ourselves but there is no formal initiatives from the institute to develop the alumni network.

Exam Structure

Schedule was quite hectic. There were two semesters in a year plus sessionals and class tests and assignments. Additionally, lab reports had to be submitted after practicals.

Faculty

4

The standard of faculty was quite good except a few. Regular theory and practical classes were held. Class tests were held as per schedule and requirements. There was strict invigilation during the semester examinations.

Well as far as mh knowledge students get to placements from 6th semester itself . Well there are placement classes from 3rd semester itself . The placement track record of the college is quite good with most year about 90% gets placed with good companies comming like Deloitte, EY GDS , JP MORGAN, Oracle , offering high amount of placement offers like around 20+ lpa . Well I am not sure about my plans maybe if the palacement is good I'll take it or will be preparing for GATE (Whose courses are also provided from college .)
