Remarks

Sociology is a subject that follows a rather holistic and scientific method of study. Also, it opens more prospects for masters and jobs as compared to other humanitarian disciplines. Kamala Nehru College has an excellent faculty in the Department of Sociology. The teachers arrange for international seminars and workshops frequently.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Sociology as a course in Delhi University requires you to read a lot of original texts written by classical theorists. The course is updated, but doesn't push you enough to conduct your own research. In Kamala Nehru College, Archana ma'am is the Teacher in charge of the sociology department. She looks out for her students and keeps everyone engaged in academic as well as internship work.

Internships Opportunities

OCD, content creator, 7000

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell of the college started getting jobs for students from the humanities background only recently. The students of the college are bright and hence get placed in the companies. The companies are usually PR firms or social service or private research companies.

College Events

5

KNC has many cultural societies, and all of them, be it the music societies, the dance societies or the debate societies, hold a high reputation in the inter college circuit. The college hosts a Diwali Mela and the annual cultural festival as well where celebrity guests perform every year. KNC is known to have one of the best fests among the DU colleges.

Campus Life

4

Kamala Nehru College has a beautiful campus with murals on the walls, two air conditioned seminar rooms, a computer lab and library with JSTOR subscription, projectors in lecture halls, and clean washrooms. The chaupaal(amphitheatre) is the highlight of the college and a favourite hangout spot in campus.

Hostel Facilities

5

Kamala Nehru College doesn't have a hostel. But there are several PG facilities on the same street as the college. The average rental fee per month is around 10-15 thousand rupees. There's an additional advance rent that you're required to pay, which differs from landlord to landlord.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum was evidently outdated and irrelevant to modern engineering challenges and could have severely disadvantaged students' learning outcomes. Although, interaction with seniors compensated this.

Remarks:

Good Remark: The college environment made it possible for me to have great friends and be the person who I have become. The teachers and facilities of well-equipped labs, guest lectures, events, library, etc. made it possible for us to have a great campus life. Bad Remark: The college management needs to update the library norms that they have (which made it difficult for us to have books for the weekend to study) and also need to provide students with better placement opportunities from the same field as the specializations.
