Remarks

At first I really didn’t want to be a part of Lovely Professional University. I was preparing for JEE but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it. As we know something is better than nothing, I chose LPU. At first, I hated myself for making the decision and slowly I realised God has better plans for you. I’m in the third year of my degree and I proudly say I’ve learnt a great amount of knowledge. And the exposure I got here, I don’t think I’d have got it somewhere else. I love the cooperating faculty who’s always ready to support the students. The university provides student the platform they want to achieve the goals of their life. Since my childhood, whenever someone used to ask me what I want to be, without a second thought my answer would be ‘An Engineer’. At that time I wasn’t knowing even there are multiple streams. But yes after coming here and with time, I gained knowledge and now I can even guide someone.

Course Curriculum Overview

In the beginning of my journey to be an Engineer, I never ever felt like my teachers aren’t good enough. Like 60% job is of the student. Teacher contributes the rest 40%. But here I’ve found some teachers who’re willing to put even 100%. And talking about syllabus, yes the university keeps the students and the curriculum updated. Talking of the students from mechanical and agriculture field, I think yes enough industrial exposure is provided. Me being a CSE student have got exposure from the webinars and live interaction sessions with people already working in renowned industries. Well I’d love to mention the only teacher I’ve liked the most. Her name is Miss Jyoti Shokhanda. She used to teach me 2 subjects in my last to last semester. She really helped every student and a student like me has scored passing marks because of her hard efforts.

Internships Opportunities

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university has provided us the facility to complete our internship by working from home. I’ve interned in Analytics Vidya and completed my course of Data Science. It aimed at providing the insights of working environment we students would be facing in the coming years.

Placement Experience

3.5

For hiring students, I don’t even remember how many companies have visited the university. Sometimes there’s mass hiring and sometimes choosing 1 student out of thousands. For getting placed, students need to first register for the placement drive. University also provides placement classes and I think it’s one of those fee things that attracts students from all over the world.

College Events

5

University has provided me the exposure of some great mega events.University has various clubs working for the student welfare. They come with technical, cultural and management festivals.I still remember last year,One India was a huge success. It continued for some 3-4 days. For every single day,a different band team was invited. The students were full of life.Like so much energy and full of zeal and enthusiasm.

Fees and Financial Aid

University provides scholarship on basis of the marks secured by student in the 12th class or in the LPUNEST exam conducted by university. I’ve been granted a scholarship of Rs 30000 per semester.

Campus Life

Talking about the infrastructure, I think no university in Punjab can beat LPU. May it be Chandigarh University or some other university. LPU is famous for the infrastructure and the working conditions they provide to the people coming to the university. May it be admission block or the hospital or the kiosks. I think students may dislike the teaching pattern here but they love the infrastructure. And yes we’re living in a fast changing world where having an internet connection is a must. Well University looks after this for us. Within whole campus, hundreds of Wi-Fi systems have been installed, including hostels. And our library consists of books for student from every department. May it be CSE or Mechanical or human psychology. And the best part is university is opened till midnight.

Hostel Facilities

Talking about hostels, well hostel life is something students love here. I too have been a hosteller for 2 years. All those late night discussions, playing games in our room with the roommates, inviting friends to cook maggi at 2 in the morning, or going to have a cup of tea at night. Everything in the hostel is priceless. The university takes full responsibility in providing a comfortable and safe environment to the students living in the hostel. In every hostel, turnstile gates have been installed for keeping digital records of the students entry and exit. Moreover, 5-6 security guards are there for 24*7. Talking about food, I never took the mess option and I feel happy that I didn’t. Because when I see my roommate eating the mess food and crying, I’d feel the food isn’t good enough. Moreover, most of the students used to skip the meal. But you know there’s a blessing and we call it WHSmith. It’s like a shop providing you everything you need. Be it mattresses or toothpaste or maggi or milk or chocolates. We get everything there and it’s the best thing I can mention. To avail hostel facilities, student has to register and make a pre booking at the time of taking admissions. As we know, students are more and the rooms are less, It’s recommended to decide quick.

We were offered placement assistance as it was an online program and i really think it is a good initiative because college are least bothered for placements for their online programs. As i had to pursue a career in marketing i started doing projects and internships in marketing and sales domain.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As i have opted the course B.Pharmacy! I rate the course as optimal, neither too bad nor too good, its medium! Now comes on teaching method, some teachers are really well and good and few are those who does not teaches but only writing writing, thats it, they will not explain at all! And one thing they should change is that All Courses except B.Pharmacy in Chandigarh University have the criteria to pass the student even below the 40% only or the half of the highest number scored by the topper in the class, and for Bpharmacy its minimum requirement to pass the exam is 50%, Oh My God! This needs to be changed, Now every year, in Bpharmacy, the overall 80% students are getting Compartments (Back/Fail) in the subjects, but the University is not understanding it all. So this should be changed as earlier!
