Remarks
Placements, Reputation among recruiters and foreign universities, facilities, exposure were important factors I took into consideration VIT has a project based learning method for most courses and a no attendance policy for 9 pointers. These were two important factors that distinguished it from colleges like SSN and SRM in Chennai. And these are two things I like the most. I chose Computer science with cyber physical systems(CPS) as I'm interested in programming and Iot( a subdomain of CPS) is a very important emerging technology and which soon become a must have skill.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus is more updated than other colleges in chennai( eg: Anna University). We are given Industrial exposure through guest lectures and Industrial visits. The faculties are knowledgeable but not always good at teaching. There are some exception professors like Dr. Saleena, Prof Radha S.
Placement Experience
TCS, CTS, Infosys, Wipro are one of the mass recruiters. Other than these in super dream categories are Paypal etc. Visit the college website for exact numbers http://chennai.vit.ac.in/.
College Events
Vit's annual tech fest is TechnoVIT and, cultural and sports fest is Vibrance. Vibrance has participants coming from all over India. Its almost a festival with competitions throughout the day and concerts at night. Other than these, the 60+ clubs have events happening all the time. Events of LitSoc are ones to look out for. They conduct one of its kind events with utter perfection and creativity.
Campus Life
VIT has basketball and tennis courts, cricket and football ground, Throwball/ badminton courts and a new swimming pool. Wifi is available in all academic buildings and in the library. The library has 3 stories, fully air conditioned and spacious. The equipment in labs are up to date
