Remarks

The reason that I chose CHRIST University, Banglore was because for my given course, i.e. BBA, it is ranked number 1 by various publications. Overall it is considered one of the best colleges for business courses all over India. Bad: cost of living is high in Bangalore relative to lower-tier cities, strict grooming, and formal dress regulations. The admission process starts in May. For my 2018 batch, step1: online registration and fee payment, document posting, step 2: go to the Bangalore campus and write the entrance exam, step 3: give an interview on allotted date, step 4: if selected, then they will give details for the admission process, generally the form filling, signatures, and fee submission must be completed within 10-15 days from the date of selection (they will give the time slot). Now the process is changed slightly, online test is conducted first which acts as an initial step for screening students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

BBA is a comprehensive business course that covers all the aspects of managing and administering a business. From concept development to planning, implementation, control, all the aspects of the business are covered in great detail. A normal classroom has around 80 students. Although it might sound big at first, the faculty is extremely competent and it works surprisingly well. Faculty qualification: I found faculty to be of high academic pedigree. Almost every professor has qualifications for postgraduate studies. Method: Depends on individual faculty but overall all kinds of methods of study are incorporated, from ppt to classroom activities to field visits to conventional teaching. The University maintains a strict schedule for all events. The details regarding the exam are given at the beginning of the academic year and specific dates are given 1 month prior to the exam. April- even sem, oct-nov- odd sem. Difficulty- Moderate, would vary on an individual basis but prepare well for good marks.

Internships Opportunities

4

After 2nd year, as part of the course program, a compulsory internship must be completed for 90 days during summer vacations. 1. On-campus: 2 companies came- EY (15-20,000 pm) and Goldman sachs (30000 pm), selection criteria is very strict and only around 12-13 students get an internship from on-campus registrations. 2. Off-campus sources: Via LinkedIn, and contacts. The stipend can vary from company to company Due to the pandemic, our batch internship became optional and we instead completed an online course from a certified online resource like- Coursera.

Placement Experience

3.5

In the BBA course, students can sit for placements from the beginning of the 5th semester. Internship opportunities are also given during the 2nd year which can serve as the basis for future employment. For me, EY and goldman sachs came for internship opportunities. A total of 58 companies made offers last year. Avg - 3-4 lpa Highest- 15 lpa (Bain) Prominent companies- De shaw, KPMG, Walmart, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, Bain, and many others. Percentage of students getting placement- not specified by the college but around 40-50% roughly. Many students don't opt for placements due to other interests. I am sitting for placements, so I would preferably like to get placed and work in the field of finance. Competition is very high, so hard work and dedication are required to get placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure: 1st yr: 1,50,000, 2nd yr: 1,35,000, 3rd yr: 1,40,000. 1st yr fee is paid lumpsum during admission. 2nd yr and the 3rd-year fee is a due lump sum and is paid in advance from January to February. college hostel access is limited and the majority of people reside outside. Avg rent outside is rs. 11,000 per month which can vary depending on other factors. Once the fees are paid, the college gives the opportunity for students to apply for scholarships. Based on merit and after reviewing applications, a refund is alloted to the student. No explicit limit for the scholarship is given and the specific amount is left to the discretion of management. My friends have received scholarships worth Rs. 10-15,000 per year. Financial Assistance: provided for people belonging to weaker sections of society. Applications must be submitted and suitable assistance is given based on the college's assessment. lots of companies visit and I am currently sitting for placement (Range: 2.5 L- 15L)

Campus Life

5

Campus life in CHRIST is vibrant and something is always happening. Fests details- Vistas- Department Fest ( happens in summer), THRIVE- Department fest ( for juniors, seniors manage, in winters), Blossoms (cultural fest, august- September), Inblooms (for winners of cultural fests), ESPIRIT (Department fest for outside colleges organized by students). Moreover, fests from other departments, frequent outstations fests are organized, so there is ample opportunities for students. Library: 2 libraries on campus, one for undergraduate and one for postgraduate studies, however no restriction on the access of these two. Journals: college provides many free resources for research purposes. Details about it can be found in the library section of the university website. Sports & extracurriculars- Sports fests inter and intra college which covers all the major sports, B- plan competitions, set up commercial stalls in the college campus. Clubs: E-cell, debating, zealous (culturals), musical, dance, etc.

Interview Experience

4.5

Yes, there is a 3 stage selection process. Stage 1: Entrance Exam which judges the overall intelligence of candidates. Sections- Current Affairs, Language, Logical reasoning, Aptitude. Step 2: Elocution and essay on general topics like- environment, government policy, etc. Step 3: Personal Interview which judges the technical knowledge as well as the personality of the candidate. A panel of two professors takes a personal interview. No Group Discussion. Remember that over 7000-8000 students apply for limited seats of around 480 seats. So, the competition is very high. The university gives preference to students who have a good extracurricular record. For example- sports experience at the national and state level is appreciated, similarly big achievements like this can improve a candidate's odds. I improved my English by reading newspapers and watching movies. For current affairs- a latest gk book followed online news outlets, lr& aptitude book as well briefly.

Placement Experience:

I have not yet attended any of the placement scenario, so I cannot say much about the placements. I also do not know correctly about the percentage of students placed. There are various companies that come to our campus for interviews. There are around 40-50 companies that are welcomed. Some of them are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, HP, and so on. The average package can roughly be like Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.
