KMC, DU is no doubt is one of the top 10 rank colleges in the north campus of Delhi University. Apart from its high reputation, the faculties here are also too good and the crowd is also way much good. Though some students (like me) won't be liking the elections part of the college that too get compensated as these activities become a source of entertainment for us ;) DELHI UNIVERSITY offers admission both on the basis of Entrance and Merit. I got admission through the Merit mode in the Third Admission list of UG in the month of July. As I was from the Science background in my 12th (MEDICAL) therefore I was looking for the BOTANY course as I was interested in that particular subject only. The main reason for choosing KMC was that it has a high reputation and it is in the North Campus which is much better than the South campus. Another reason was that I cannot wait for further lists and lose this chance to get admission to this college.
I was keenly interested in the study of plants and their section cutting, that's why I chose Botany for my UG. It was kinda surprising to see 95 admissions in my class.. however.. the class strength after came to 77 in number. Faculty, on the other hand, is way much professional and makes use of both the classic ways (blackboard mode) and the modern way (projector mode) of teaching which gives the students a better level of understanding and helps to grasp the concept more quickly. There are 2 semesters held in a year (total 6 semesters in 3 years) including the practical examination, internal assessment, etc.
WELL, for the Science graduates.. the placements are not ready on your plate just after we graduate as we have to go for the Masters's as well, and then we have that level from where we can get placed via giving entrances like UGC NET and CSIR NET. However, the way to apply for the govt. jobs like: UPSC, SSC, etc. get open as we get graduated.
Honestly.. when you are in Delhi University which is under the central govt ... there are no fee hike issues. Trust me, only 10,000 for the whole year is worthed it. However, they also provide Scholarships and fee relaxation for the weaker sections in the society.
The campus is just amazing!! Not just the college classes and the infrastructure but the outer campus is also so green and so good that you will be in love with it. libraries, on the other hand, are also so much excellent that you can easily find a wide range of journals there and it is even fully air-conditioned with proper reading halls. Classrooms are also way too clean and modern. About Sports and Societies like NSS, DEBSHOC, SENSATION ETC. too, the college is very particular and provides multiple opportunities and exposure to the students.
From 6 the semester students are eligible for campus placements. For chemistry department students many companies visited the college for placement. 1 ) Asian paint - This company give highest 20 posts for assistant researcher and average salary about 3 to 4 lakh. 2) Jubliant - This pharma company offer 3 posts (approx salary 3.5 lakhs) annual. Approx 50% of student get placement through college. After graduation, I want to do a master in chemistry.
There is no placement cell in the college as per my knowledge. However, teachers help us out with internships. Companies like Nestle, Cadbury, max, etc visit here with internship offers. After getting the degree, I plan to crack entrance examinations to get admission in MSc. In one of the best Food technology colleges like CFTRI, etc.
Students from all semesters are eligible for internships, however, mostly Final year/semester students are preferred by the placement cell. Not a lot of placements were available for my course since a BSc on its own doesn't mean a lot, but there were good packages available for students pursuing commerce and the like as far as I know, the highest packages offered in our department were around 12-24 Lac pa while the lowest were only 5-6 Lac pa. Not a lot of students got a placement after completing the course right away, as most opted including me opted for higher studies (Masters in Physics, MBA, UPSC etc).
From the 5th semester, students become eligible for the campus placement. Many companies visited my college placement like- Bijus, Zoomato, Vedanta & many other tech Oriented companies. The highest package offered was around 20 lakhs & the average package is about 15 lakhs per annum. The percentage of the students getting placed is approximately 10%. I want to do my post-graduation.
From 5-semester students become applicable for placements and all placement related details are shared in a college group compromising of more than 2500+ students. Most student opt for higher studies after a bachelor's some start preparing for entrance exams.
I didn't totally decline that campus placement is offered but the ratio of placement of our college is not good. Some companies visit campus for placement but there is less in number and they offer less package. I recommend if you looking for campus placement, then this college is not for you. Hardly 3 out of 10 students get placement. Now talking about other than placement then most students are preparing for government exams like UPSC, SSC and some are preparing for IIT jam, GMAT etc. I planned to do post-graduation after my under graduation and after that preparing for UPSC.
Campus placement is a little off from last 2-3 years. But internships are being provided in top notch companies like Nestle, Britannia, DMS, Mother Diary, Patanjali and so on. Most of the students opt for higher studies after graduation. Some of our seniors has got into Niftem, BHU, IIFT and other prestigious institutions for their post graduation.
