Manipal Institute of Technology is a unit of Manipal University. Being a part of such an interdisciplinary university allows the interaction between students of various streams and branches. The students can select electives that have no relation to their subject to explore different fields. The biggest reason anyone chooses MIT is that it provides a great network and social circle.
Our course curriculum is very advanced. The college doesn't believe in rote learning of formulas and writing them in the exams. To combat this issue, they have come up with formula books for the exams, that allows that student to access the formulas during the exams so that the students can focus on the concepts and their application instead of spending time in learning the formulas. We have workshop for the first years to get an idea on the industrial application of every branch of engineering. This allows them to visualize the concepts instead of just learning for the books directly.
The placements are reasonable for the core branches, but the branches such as biotech and chemical don't get good placements as they demand masters students for the jobs. The ROI is low for placements compared to the fees paid.
The college is known for its extracurricular activities. It has 3 different types of clubs; technical and non-technical clubs and student projects. MIT hosts two fests every year, one being the technical TECH TATVA and the cultural REVELS. Tech tatva conducts all the technicals competitions such as hackathon and robotics. Revels is more of dance and music competitions.
The campus of MIT, Manipal, is huge with great infrastructure. The entire campus has a Wi-Fi facility, including the academic blocks and the hostel rooms. The central library is located in the heart of the institution. It is a 3 storey, 70000 square feet building equipped with air-conditioned rooms and books, journals, and DVDs. The sports complex MARENA is common to all the members of the university. It is 11 storeyed complex with all the facilities ranging from the gym, indoor sports, swimming pools, and race track.
Yes, I have opted for a hostel. The hostel infrastructure for double sharing is decent, and each room has an attached bathroom. There are hostels for triple sharing with a common bathroom, which can get messy sometimes. The ones who apply for hostels while the counseling process gets the single sharing and double sharing rooms but select their hostels after confirming the college get the triple sharing rooms.
A student should have taken physics, math and chemistry to get into Manipal Institute of Technology. The entrance exam to get into the college is MET. I wrote the exam in the year 2019 and I secured a score of 500/800.
The statistics for placement are high. Students become eligible for campus placements from the seventh semester. ALmost 60-70% of students get placed every year. After getting the bachelors degree, I may go for higher education or will opt for a job.
Placements what are they when you think about this college. I hardly sorry nothing. You can't expect your life would be good here
Management is From management quota
The 4 years of my educational life was very monotonous and I learned only so much what was thought from the books and what's required for the sake of examination and nothing specific to industrial readiness was thought nor the skills where given importance and the management was just focused on printing money nothing was done for the students. One plus side of the college is I got amazing friends.
Not many complains about the campus or the infrastructure. The campus is calm and the air is fresh. There are a lot of shops scattered around the campus. Bicycle stands are placed all around the campus for easy parking. But they dont have many holidays during the semester, even though it rains/flood.
The college management is very smart in taking fine from the students in all the silly things. But overall it is good for all other things and in managing the whole college.
