Remarks

There's a lot of talented teachers in the college who aren't utilized will enough. I don't know how their promotion works and all but management is doing a really bad job in recruiting some bad lecturers thru recommendations etc, which is totally unprofessional. And a lot can be made use for the reason of it being autonomous now. Need a rethink on it.

Entrance Preview

I went thru Diploma CET and Had secured department ranking of around 130 I guess. The reason I choose this college was for its fame of being the best among others in Hassan and around.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As it was its first year into Autonomous structure, there were a lot of confusions with regard to the curriculum. Thankfully we have a good HOD who put efforts to introduce new subjects and course structures that came handy post graduation too. Would really appreciate that part for sure.

Internships Opportunities

No. There's no internship as far as I know, mainly with respect to bachelor's degree.

Placement Experience

3

As I mentioned earlier, due to its fame of being the oldest colleges around, it does have placement opportunities. The Alums from this college itself bring their companies to the placements. Still, compared to colleges in Bangalore, the number of companies are less. As far as I remember, there were only 8-9 companies which visited our college during my tenure. The packages ranged from 2.5 LPA to 6 LPA.

College Events

2.5

There were mainly 2 clubs in college. Lit Club and Tech club. As the name goes, Lit club was taking care of all the cultural activities, may it be yearly fests or any other events. Tech club had paper presentation and similar things. No way it was conducted wasn't great. Neither they had strong support from the faculty not had complete freedom to run on their own. Kinda restrictive environment i feel.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees weren't expensive. There are many students who were getting some scholarship for their performance in academics or their caste etc. Even for an average student, fees are affordable. Yes, They do have attendance shortage fine(which I feel is a total rip off) and examination fee etc. but for the one who is really into studies. All these shouldn't be a concern.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am pretty sure there's no Loan facility offered by the college. Forget offered, even assisted is out of questions. You need to apply for education loan on your own and they will sign it for you(That is all they offer). Scholarships are offered for students of low economic background or doing really good in studies(Good means, being toppers).

Campus Life

2

The Campus was good during our time. There was a mini forest inside but there were plans to clear it off and build an auditorium there. Not sure if it's done or not. As mentioned earlier, Extracurricular or sports were not really entertained much. They were limited to Fests or yearly sports days.

Hostel Facilities

2

I did not stay in the hostel and hence have a very minimal knowledge about it. All I know is what I've heard. They keep are of average size but cleanliness is out of question. The hostel fees are cheap. not really strict. I don't really know about the exact fees.

Alumni/Alumna

Being a college of more than 50 years, it's alumni is huge. They organize a yearly Alumni meet and I've heard few come from other countries to attend it. There is some few that is being collected by the alumni club from everyone. Although the fee was collected, I haven't got any communication about it until now. Not sure why or is it just for me or for everyone else.

Exam Structure

Just like any other VTU college, the internal and externals were in monthly intervals. Neither were they Hectic or of leisure. Although there were efforts made to make every internals mandatory and hectic, they couldn't during my tenure. Might have achieved it by now I suppose. Having really elderly people in the management brings the ideology of "More study, more success". Not really right.

Faculty

3

Although the college completed 50 years during my stay there, Our department specifically was lacking a few experienced teachers. Not that there weren't any. We had a couple of them who were really good, both with respect to their knowledge on the subject and also they way they conducted themselves. But you know, even a single rotten fruit can spoil the basket.

Excellent placement training and reputed companies visit the campus. I had received offers from three companies which reflects the quality of opportunities available. Placement is one of the college's biggest strength. Student with no backlog and good academic records will get easily placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The aspects like: we had 2 internal exams in the semester and after completing these internal exams roughly at the 5th month we had practical exam + end semester exams, these exams would be mainly theory based inclusing some conceptual based questions & based on our understanding only, we can able to write the answers. One thing, I would suggest was we shall give more weightage to the practical based learning, that too during our days we were just the beginning of AI & Iot era was effectively going on, if we had some advanced eductaion covering these aspects we would have got the opportunity to shine more in our carrers. As a student, we faced slight diffuclities and challenges matching the real-life happenings with the acdemics, that would be one of the shortcoming I can say.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the curriculum is well planned, balanced and easy to follow. We start with the basics and along with theory there's a good amount of coding practice, assignments, and hands on learning. I like that the course isn't just about passing exams, it also focuses on building skills that will be useful later for internships and placements. So far it feels relevant, practical and not overwhelming for someone who's just starting out.
