MDI-M started its first batch in 2014 and since then. it has seen growth in all aspects. CRISIL has rated MDI-M , A(A triple star) at state level and A( A double star) at National Level. The rich experiences of faculties also drove me to take admission here. MDI-M not only has great internal faculties, but is also supported by great external faculties from premium b-schools and industry stalwarts. My admission process was very smooth. It was scheduled on 8th'Feb 2020 in the 2nd Half. Venue was a 5- star hotel. After reaching there, they verified all the documents of all the students,, which was following by GD in two different panels at the same time. Time given for the GD was around 15 mins and my GD topic was" Strategies to deal with high crude oil prices in India". At last PI was scheduled, my panel has 2 panelist and the questions revolved around my background and some current affairs .
Faculty: student ratio is 1:9.4. All the faculties are Ph.D. degree holder. Course Curriculum and pedagogy are case study based which is similar with MDI Gurgaon. The course is trimester based and relative grading is done for giving grades.
Internship roles are offered on the domain of accounts and finance, operations, sales and marketing and HR. Some of the major recruiters for the batch 2020-22 are Vox Populi Research, Emami, Mphasis, Moody's Analytics, etc.
In 2018-20, highest package offered was 21 LPA, average package was 10.5 LPA and median package was 11.1 LPA. Some of the prominent recruiters were SBI Life, TCS, Airtel, Audi, Dabur, Punartha, PWC etc.
Course fee for the batch 2020-22 is 11.5 L which includes tuition fees, mess, hostel, library, student welfare, books, etc etc. One can avail Vidhya Lakshmi scholarship if eligible. For financial assistance, one can take SBI scholar loan.
Campoxita in organized in MDIM. Apart from it annual conclaves are also organized where industry stalwarts come and give us some exposure about practical world. Workshop on excel and BI tools, MSL, etc, is organized by Analytica, Analytics Club. KPMG lean six sigma green belt is organized by Opcellence, Operations Club. FinGyan is organized by Finartha, Finance club. Budget Express is organized by Eco-Minds, Economics Club. Samvaad it organized by PR Media committee . These are some of the events from the long list of events that take place round the year.
Hostel fess is included in the overall fess, and since it is a fully residential course, hostel comes mandatory. Hostel rooms are good with single occupancy and attached balcony. Boys and girls have different hostel buildings.
My GD topic was: Strategies to deal with high crude oil prices in India. Time limit was around 15 mins, in which for the first 13 mins, we had to discuss with each other and in last 2 mins we were told to summarize in a sheet of paper that was provided to us. After this, students were called by PI one by one according to the serial no. that was allotted to them. In my PI round, questions technical and situational questions were asked based on the B.tech background. Some general questions regarding the cities that I have lived in and some current affairs question including Union Budget.
I preferred to pursue my MBA programme from Vinod Gupta School of Management - [VGSoM], Kharagpur. The institute was one of the best choice to puruse management education. There are various advantages and merits of this institute such as its academic excellence, international collaborations, 100% placement opportunities, international exchange programmes, classroom learning experience, great rankings, global exposure, rigorous curriculum, knowledgable team of professionals, practical knowledge, etc. Admission for the MBA (HR) programme is done based on the valid scores in CAT followed by personal interview.
The personal interview round is conducted for 20 minutes hardly for the final selection of the candidate to the MBA programme. The panelists ask several questions that are related to the subjects-domains, general awareness, general knowledge-based to test the IQ level of the students. Few questions asked are to Indian economy, budget, Marketing trends, Industry requirements, challenges, and demands.
For the year 2020, IMI Kolkata was ranked 5th in the management category by NIRF. For PGDM admissions, The final stage of screening the candidates is Personal Interview and for this stage, they are shortlisted on the basis of CAT/XAT or GMAT scores. The personal interviews are conducted to judge some skills like Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Cognitive and Problem Solving Skills, General Awareness, etc.
100% placements were registered for the batch 2018-2020. Highest CTC- 20 LPA Average CTC- 8 LPA The Sales & Marketing domain seemed the most attractive one.Top recruiters were: Audi, IBM, Amazon, Ibibo, Justdial, Bigbasket, ClearTax, KPMG and Urban Clap, among others.
I choose to study PGDM at IMI Kolkata as the institute had a significant growth over years and the rigorous curriculum of the PGDM programme was rigorous. The faculty members were very highly qualified. The institute had an significant increase in the number of placements. International collaborations and great rankings were another aspects for which i opted the PGDM course. Apart from this, the admission process for the PGDM programme is done based on the merit in CAT/ GMAT/ XAT entrance exam followed by Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) conducted by the college itself. Candidates with work experience are given high preference in admission
The placement at IMI Kolkata is too good as the institute invites prominent companies during the campus placement drive. The institute recorded its highest CTC at INR 20 LPA. Some of the top recruiters were- JSW, Deloitte, Global Data, Amazon, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, CCD, TCS, Randstad, etc.
For a small batch size, ample opportunities come the way of students. Great pay and roles are there to avail if you have the right mindset and commitment. We have been completing 100% placements consistently for the past 4 years and added some big brands like ITC, Amazon, AkzoNobel, Jio Saavn, Dell, RBI, etc.
The student would be eligible for placement after their second semester. The companies that visited the campus included Bandhan Bank and Axis Bank. The average package has been around 3 lac per annum. Around 40 percent of the student got placed. My plan is to get a job in content writing.
One of the positive fact is if anyone got chance of admission in this college has a high chance of placement. The college environment is also very good along with the behaviours of all of our faculties.
The financial burden in Department of Business management is minimum and does not bother anybody. However I would rather say that the entire course of Management should be mostly Practical then theoretical. Marking schemes should change as More emphasis should be given on day to day project analysis and assignments.
