Remarks

1. Location- Bangalore is the silicon valley of India and provides many opportunities after graduation 2. Clubs- Many technical and non technical clubs help students to look beyond books. For me, the Aerodesign club called Team Avions, helped me shape my future and interest in Aviation and sciences. 3. Admin processes are tedious and sometimes more work than required. In the Admin dept everyone is not helpful which creates a shadow of unapproachability.4. Vacations are very short and almost second to zilch. Vacations must be provided for a longer duration to help students to do various projects and internships

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Mechanical engineering beacuse it provides a framework on how things work. For 180 students there are about 20 professors which brings a ratio of 9:1. Faculties are more than capable for the curriculum but lack a certain less exposure to current industry standards. Almost every professor holds a masters degree in their area of expertise and some of them hold PhD. Exams were timely and challenging in a good way. Most of the professors are helpful and provide enough assignments to prepare students for the subjects. Again, some practical temper with respect to the subjects need to be provided to enhance understanding.

Internships Opportunities

1

I managed to do 2 internships during my 4 year course. They had to be done either in after college hours or sacrificing classes to attend internships. First one was at tarento technologies as a data analyst intern and was assigned an ERP management project but was unable to complete the same due to end semester exams were going to start. Second one was at UTC eco energy as a data analyst intern and here I was working as an HVAC monitor engineer. Again I was able to do only 8 weeks of internhsip which is not enough to learn in the industry.

Placement Experience

2.5

Campus placements are good for CS, IT and ECE streams. However for the Mechanical department, there aren't enough opportunities provided via campus placements. In CS and other branches there is almost 90 percent placement with an average package of 6.5Lpa but for mechanical engineering it's about 20 percent and average package is 2.5lpa. Highest package offered was in Mocrosoft for 30Lpa. Mostly people in core branches look to go for higher studies doing an MBA or Mtech programs.

College Events

The campus is considerably large as compared to Bangalore colleges. The annual fest is named Maya and there is alot of cool technical and non technical stuff to engage you for 2-3 days. Library is a quiet place and the staff is really helpful. There is a lot of sports on campus and a lot of inter college tournaments. Technical clubs also provide nice exposure.

Fee Structure And Facilities

A hike of around 5-10% in tuition fees is observed which is consistent with most of the colleges around but this hike is not seen in the facilities provided to the students. Scholarships are provided not based on merit but on people who appeared for the state entrance exam. Jobs for CS are plenty and with a good success rate. For mechanical engineering, the case however is exactly opposite. The placement office fails to bring enough companies for core jobs.

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel rooms are 3 sharing. Hostel mess guys are nice and food is good for both north and south indians. There are also a lot of PGs and flats where people choose to move out for freedom. The main down point for hostels is the curfew time of 8pm which really bothers final year and 3rd year students who need to go out and study, work etc.

Admission

A written test was conducted named as COMED-K which is a nationwide exam in PCM for engineering seats. A preparation is basic for 12th standard syllabus is enough to clear this exam. Most the last year questions are repeated and should be easy to clear the exam.

Placement Experience:

Many top MNC's come to the college. Recently the placement opportunities has increased when compared to our batchs.Companies like TCS, Wipro, IBM, Infosys, SLK, Mphasis etc had given us the opportunity. The average package offer was 3.5lpa or 4lpa. The highest package known to me was 10lpa for a CS student not for us. The placements begins either at the end of 6th sem or in the beginning of 7th sem. Almost 60-70% of us were placed by the end of graduation but due to recession the onboarding was very late. Waited for more than a year to get onboarded.

The MBBS comprises 19 Subjects which is vast. Knowing so many things make you not only knowledgeable but also you have very important role in society. This course is filled with practical knowledge which are compulsory to get. This gives you skills which only a few people can have. So you already stand in society. The newer changes that has been made by NMC has reduced the time for studies. It was less exhausting before. Exams are properly placed and arranged . They are well divided into theories, practicals, internal examinations, certification for skills, etc. Last year has more papers now.
