SSM College of Engineering and Technology Baramulla, BE, Civil Engineering

Reviewed on Mar 25, 2021(Enrolled 2016)

Remarks

I appeared for common entrance test and got admission in civil engineering (BE). I also got selected for admission outside state but since this was in my state so I preferred this college After getting selected on sept 2016,there was document verification first at counseling then at college level. I had to submit all documents like 12th marksheet jkbopee admit card PRC provisional certificate. While document verification happened in sept 2016,we finally joined class in Oct 2016. First 2 SEMESTER are same for everyone then you go into your departments. As far as the good aspects1)your attendance is checked and parents informed otherwise if not regular2)updated infrastructure 3) good cocurrical activities Bad aspects 1)Exams take longer2) results also take longer time3) You have to take transport facilities even if you don't wish4) IT section is on slower side

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I got higher rank in entrance test,so I opted for civil engineering. Also I like to be civil engineer.Faculty are qualified and well trained with everyone with masters degree in their subjects. There are 2 semesters in 1 year and a lot of internals and practicals

Class Size: 80Course Fees: INR 200000 per year

Placement Experience

I was doing civil engineering and companies would come from 6th semester. OIC visited during my period there and only one student got package of 60000 in OIC. Other wouldn't not give you more than 10000 package.

Fee Structure And Facilities

We had 40000 per year, but they do increment with every year about 5000 get hiked. Other costs include transportation fee and are manageable. But you get assistance from hrd scholarship of 30000 per year

Campus Life

When I got admission, first few months I felt socially isolated but with time you make friends and after 1 year you feel perfectly comfortable. Cricket tournaments are held regularly and every festival is celebrated with open air theaters

College campus is best as we enter the college
Spending time with friends at the campus in free tym is just like awesome
All facilities are available in campus playground, swimming , library etc.

Dislikes

Canteen is small according to student population
Sitting space in canteen is not as much gud
Some appliances are not working properly

Course Curriculum Overview:

First of all, I had taken science in my 12th too, that is why I wanted to continue in science and due to my interest in physics and chemistry, I continued in this course. The curriculum provides me with Whatever is sufficient in my course and whatever knowledge I need, I will have more than that. Exam timing should be in the afternoon only because morning gets very late in coming due to which exam gets skipped, rest it is perfect

Government Degree College for Women- Academically marvelous with good infrastructure.

Likes

The campus beautiful and very well maintained. It has a beautiful playground and is located in the middle of the town.
This college is safe and secure for girls. It has some unique features like Committee Against Sexual Harassment, Anti Ragging Committee etc.
The campus has drinking water facilities, good canteen with good food and great administration.

Dislikes

The sitting arrangement for the students is not upto the mark.
The college does not provide good transportation facilities for students coming from far flung areas who face a lot of difficulty in reaching the campus.
The washrooms need improvement. The hygiene needs to be improved. More washrooms should be constructed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very interesting. The specific areas that influenced my decision are Number Theory and and Calculus. In this course we're taught everything that we need to pursue higher studies like M.Sc. The exams are conducted by University of Kashmir and the difficulty level is average. The faculty is highly qualified and the teaching method employed is to deliver a lecture and it can be improved by making the sessions more interactive and immersive by increasing the use of technology like smartboards.

The admission process was quite difficult and they literally make hinged into the decision to apy admission fee in advance to have a security deposit if otherwise student later leaves the college and joins other institution they would make it look like a penalty and they withhold the priginal docs which you should never show them .
