Entrance Preview

MU-OET. I scored 114 and 119 in my first and second attempt respectively. It's one of the best private institutions in India and the nearest one as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The topics are revised every 4 years to provide the latest in the subject. The subjects are branch oriented and gives technical understanding through a professional approach. The medium of instruction is English and the teachers are highly qualified. The labs and workshops for the respective branches are a state of art facilities.

Internships Opportunities

Well not technically. Every student who completes 2nd year must work for a minimum of 21 days to continue to 3rd year. The college may not provide internships to its students but it promotes student projects and provides funds and permissions to use workshop and lab facilities.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements have always been a strength of MIT Manipal. The most sought after branches are CSE, ECE and Mechanical. With salaries ranging from 4-20 lakhs per annum placements have been strong with the recent years after the appointment of Satya Nadella and Rajeev Suri as CEO of Microsoft and Nokia resp.

College Events

5

In the odd semesters we have our technical fest ' TechTatva ' and in the even semesters we have our cultural fest ' Revels '. Both the fests are inter collegiate festivals and colleges throughout India come to participate. Other colleges under Manipal University also have fests throughout the year and students of MIT can participate as well.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The tution fees for students entering through general merit is around 12.5 lakhs. The fee structure is definitely expensive. Fee for students studying under NRI would sum up around 30 lakhs. Hostel fees (which includes mess fees) would mean another 4 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students with ranks 1-1000 in the MU-OET exam can avail scholarships. There will be reduction in fees based on their parents salaries. Meritorious needy students will be provided with loans to help them with their studies. Students who were a part of manipal university before joining MIT also have different beneficiary policies.

Campus Life

5

There are students from 57 countries and all states of India in Manipal University. The locals are friendly. The sex ratio is almost 50-50. Labs are well facilitated. Sports and robotics competitions are held during our technical fest ' TechTatva ' and for debates, there are separate student run clubs for that.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are new, provided with AC facilities and regularly maintained There is a recreation room inside every floor. There is a basketball court, a cricket ground, a football ground and a hockey ground near the hostels. Mess food is clean and healthy. The food court is huge and is very hygienic.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of Manipal are ruling the Silicon Valley right now. Satya Nadella, Rajeev Suri to name few. Alumni meets are held frequently. Senior students are very loving and welcoming and ragging is almost non existent in the campus.

Exam Structure

There are 6 subjects. Out of 100 marks 50 internals and 50 end sems. 50 internals - 2 sessionals of 15 marks each and 4 quizzes of 5 marks each. The quiz questions will be given a week before in hand and students will be asked to answer them on a given day.

Admission

After the online result declaration and online seat allotment, I visited the college with my father to complete the admission process. After making SBI bank account for the combo/medical/identity/debit card and completing the procedure i was admitted to Mechanical branch of MIT.

Faculty

4

There are many levels of lecturers and as a student of MIT you will meet most of them. The lecturers are highly qualified with most of them with their MTech and PhD done in premier institutions like IITB IITC etc. Most of the lecturers are easily approachable, friendly and understanding.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
