Entrance Preview

I took JEE mains, advanced and BITSAT examinations. As my BITSAT score was less than 300(around 280), I was left with IITJEE. Also I didn't get good score in JEE advanced examination. So I have to go with JEE mains in which I scored 163 out of 360. At that time NIT Trichy was ranked 1st among NITs followed by NIT W,NIT K,NIT C.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum of ICE department is good with a focus on research. It has core subjects like sensors and transducers, control systems, industrial instrumentation,In addition there are few other dept. subjects like data structures, algorithms, computer networks, communication systems to develop basic knowledge on them. Students are exposed to industrial environment by planning visits to few industries which are nearby.

Internships Opportunities

During 3rd year, companies visit college to provide internship opportunities. Few software, electronics companies also open for ICE dept. along with core companies like Reliance. Very few core companies visit campus to provide internship opportunities.Compared to core companies, software and electronics companies open more in number. Stipend generally will be 10k-15k per month for core internships.

Placement Experience

4

PSU companies like BPCL,HPCL visit campus for placements if they have vacancies and the package they offer is also pretty good(11.6 LPA approx). Other companies like Reliance also open for placements.Anyhow, placements and job opportunities in core profile are less compared to other profiles. Most of the students get placed in software companies, few in electronics and few in management companies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is a little bit expensive and it's increasing for further batches. For our batch academic fee is 40 k and hostel fee is 26 k per semester. So it sums up to 70 k per semester. So it's a little bit expensive but students can avail loans and scholarships.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, there are good scholarship/loan facilities for students, which most of the students make use of. I didn't avail any loan facility or scholarship though. Scholarships are provided to students by FFE(foundation for excellence),ONGC based on their academic performance and family income.

Campus Life

4

Campus life in NITT is awesome, students come from almost all parts of the country. Gender ratio is also good, number of female students is increasing year by year. There are also many extra curricular and co-curricular clubs, in which students can join and contribute to the ongoing projects or start a new project. There are clubs related to robotics, electronics, software, art, dance, music.

Alumni/Alumna

As NITT is one of the top colleges in india, it's alumni network is large. We had an interaction with our alumni organised by our seniors, which will be very helpful for final year and pre-final year students. There is also a club dedicated solely for alumni networks.

Admission

According to my preferences,I was given a seat in production engineering here in NIT Trichy after my 1st round of counselling. I went on for further rounds and after my 4th round of counselling I ended up with ICE (Instrumentation and control engineering). So I was asked to come to NITT for certificate verification.

Faculty

3

Faculty here in NIT trichy are of course greatly qualified. In ICE dept. few faculty members are not highly qualified.Few courses are taken by temporary faculty, some of them have poor knowledge, communicative skills and are not at all interested to teach.Except them other faculty members are great and most of them are interested to teach. There are very few faculty who doesn't seem to be interested to teach.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
