Entrance Preview

Separate entrance exam for Presidency CollegeI scored 44/100 in the exam (believe me, I ranked amongst the top 10 students, it shows the level of question papers for the entrance exam)This was the best undergraduate college at that time (Ranked 2nd after St Stephens College in Time's ranking of Indian degree colleges that year).

Placement Experience

1.5

This is one area where Presidency College completely lacked. The college did not have a placement cell, neither do the students were actively pursued to take up industrial jobs after graduation. The whole focus was to go for research based positions in India & abroad.

College Events

4.5

There is one annual cultural fest and is participated by many students and groups from outside. Besides there are many academic activities round the year where different students from other colleges of Kolkata take part. Not able of them is Chemistry Quiz.

Fees and Financial Aid

For studying at presidency, no loan is required as the courses are cheap. There are lots of scholarships for needy students in every department.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is good as most of the students are day scholars and do come from various socio-economic backgrounds. There is good gender ratio, almost 1:1 and more than 1:1 in some departments in favor of girls. Politcally, the college is motivated towards anti establishment for long but the politics never crossed the limits in our times.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no official alumni network but alumni from almost all departments keep unofficial alumni network of their own and they are very helpful for current students.

Exam Structure

Three exams were there each at the end of each year. Now the exam patterns have changed and there are altogether 6 semesters in B Sc & 4 semesters in M Sc. Now Presidency college has become Presidency University and it conducts its own exams. The exams ar

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
