Remarks
I applied for Jadavpur University and VIT only. I'm a student from J&K. There is a special scheme called PMSSS for j&k students to get reserved seats in reputed colleges in which they want to take admission based upon their marks in class 12th. To take admission in VIT Vellore you have to give VITEEE exam and based upon the ranking in VITEEE courses are provided.
Course Curriculum Overview
There are regular exams after each month and the difficulty level is up to that mark which can easily reflect the conceptual clarity of a student. There are two continuous assessment exams after each month and then finally one final assessment exam per semester excluding practicals.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are not provided by the college. It's the duty of the child itself to search for internships. He can search on LinkedIn or other websites. Many students are able to get internships by following the above procedure.
Placement Experience
From 3rd sem ending or 4th sem starting students become eligible for placements. There are lots of companies visiting the campus every year such as Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Infotech, Paypal etc. The highest package of the college is around 43 LPA and the average package is around 6.5 LPA according to college data but I guess it lies between 5-6 LPA. Very few students get their dream package and above 10 lpa and around 50% get placements, or it may be above. After getting a degree if I didn't gett any degree, I will go for defence exams or I will go with MTech.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of the students in vit is dependent upon their rank in VITEEE exam. If they will perform well in the exam, they will get scholarship based upon that. After applying for scholarship, one has to pay the amount round of Rs 200000. It's the starting fee for the best scholarship. There is no policy of 100% scholarship for students except the board toppers or the state toppers or PMSSS AICTE admitted students. O have not got any job yet as I'm in 2nd year now.
Campus Life
I have not visited the campus yet because of the coronavirus but I have listened a lot about the hostel life from my seniors. Hostel life is much enjoyable and intractable with other students. I can access only E-library yet because of online studies. There are around 150 clubs and chapters in the college which gives exposure to a student and it also keeps students connected with their seniors. Online events are organised by different clubs daily in which anyone can take part and increase their skills. All kinds of sports facilities are there like the gym and swimming but some are paid for.
Hostel Facilities
In the hostel, one need to purchase bedding and bathing materials such as a bucket and soap. A bed, study table is provided by the hostel. Meals in the mess are not too bad nor too good. The menu changes every day. The hostel is given to a student based on a first come first served basis. One who comes first and demands for 1 bed AC, he will be given first. Rooms can be 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 bedded AC and Non- AC. It's the choice of students to choose. Hostel fee starts from Rs 110000 (6 bedded non- AC) to Rs 180000( 1 bed AC). Students are not allowed to take PG of their hometown is greater than the distance of 100 KMs from campus.
