VIT Vellore, B.tech
Reviewed on Feb 6, 2017

Remarks

Not exactly bad but the rules of vit are quite strict. But overall it's a good place to learn so many things and to explore.

Entrance Preview

I gave mains, advance and vitee exam. My rank was 16K and I got civil branch easily. When your result got out. You have to attend the counselling in which you have to choose your branch and location (Vellore or Chennai). In counseling, you have to submit some documents.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

It's quite good. FFCS is there which gives you the freedom to choose your subjects and timetable. In your first year in nid there is something called the foundation course. In this course you will be made to undergo thorough practice in all types of courses and then in the end after you finish your foundation semester there will be a jury and they'll decide which discipline of design should you go for.

Internships Opportunities

College does provide internships it provides to various companies in Bangalore and all over the country. It provides a new experience to all of us and helps us better our skills.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placements in VIT are good. For CSE/IT it's near about perfect. ECE has its good share of fortune most of the time. EEE struggle in packages but the companies are branded and in core, fields starting packages are less only. Mechanical and it's specialization streams have mixed fortunes of good core jobs to management based profiles Civil placements I don't have much idea. BioTech normally doesn't opt for placements and go for higher studies but good firms do come like Biocon, Dr.Reddy, AstraZeneca. Overall Placements are more than average in VIT

Fee Structure And Facilities

Tuition fees are 1.60 lacs. Infrastructure fees around 55k hostel charge 55k. And other facilities amounting up to 2.5lacs plus hostel mess fees. This amount is feasible for almost everyone. This is reasonable and plus given it is a government college it is a very good fee structure.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is quite good. Lots of fun events, technical events. The ratio is like more boys fewer girls as usual. Vit is a bunch of different cultures. No political influence.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The mess food is okay and sometimes they provide you with good food. The canteen is very good and you will be satisfied. Speaking about hostels, they are pretty cool. It's a 1,2,3,4,6 room occupancy hostel and every year we have to shift into a new building to empty rooms for newer batches.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, they are quite helpful and will help you to choose your time table and teachers. It is the quality of companies that come to campus and the kind of profiles that students get, matter the most in the long run. We have attempted to capture both the details based on publicly available profiles of B-Schools alumni in LinkedIn- the popular social media site for professionals.

Faculty

3.5

They ate highly qualified and we'll experience with lots of practical knowledge. The faculty is a very experienced bunch of people and are one of the most sought after people in India. They are very respected but are also friendly with the students. In nid there is no rule to call your faculty by addressing them sir or ma'am instead you can call them by their name. This creates a positive environment for learning.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
