Entrance Preview
I wrote GATE 2014, Qualified in SC Category. I had a gate score of 290. I Chose NITK Surathkal because it is one of the best colleges for Post Graduation in Chemical Engineering
Course Curriculum Overview
The course Curriculum is pretty good and most of the subjects being taught in the class are useful during your project in some way or the other. A lot of time is provided for research work which is very good. There is emphasis on both theoretical and practical work. The labs are well equipped to perform the experiments
Internships Opportunities
I am not sure about this. But I have seen a lot of people who come in to attend seminars and workshops from all over the country in the technical fests which are organized yearly
Placement Experience
The Placement opportunities are very good for most of the branches.Even placement opportunities are good for B.Tech people for almost every branch. For students doing there masters there are plenty of opportunities for becoming a professor or joining further studies
College Events
There are a lot of Events which are celebrated in college. Every year there are technical and cultural fests, then there is an event where different states perform. Apart from these festivals like dusshera, diwali, christmas and new year are also celebrated
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee Structure is Feasible. For those joining, the fees will be a little high in the first semester but it reduces in the next semester and the adjoining years. if we compare with respect to the knowledge and quality of education we get, fee structure is feasible
Fees and Financial Aid
I am Not sure about scholarships. But it is a NIT, there definitely will be some scholarship facilities available. I myself personally have not availed any loan from the college and am not aware of any schemes but i am pretty sure there might be some good schemes available for those who require it
Campus Life
I have little idea about gender ratio and diversity but as far as campus life is concerned, it is good. A lot of extracurricular events takes place, sports are an important part of the campus. Labs are up to date. I have very little knowledge about competitions involving robotics, debates etc. but whatever events happen they are really good
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are not so bad, Rooms are cleaned frequently. Bathrooms are cleaned as regularly as possible. There is not much power Cut but there is no power backup. Sometimes there is water shortage but apart from that everything is good. Mess food is okay, i wont say great just good
Alumni/Alumna
It is very good. While we were ther a Global Convocatio was organised in the college campus and people from different batches were there to attend it, some with friends, some with family
Exam Structure
Exam Structure is pretty good. There is enough time given to study fot each course. The question paper are sometimes pretty tough, so they will test you sometimes. Lab work and other seminars are properly given time. Class representatives are a part of deciding the exam structure
Admission
First I registered on CCMT, Got the centre of CCMT counselling. For verification and payment of advance fee of 10000 rupees via Demand Draft, I visited Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute Mumbai, then the admission process was very easy. I had to submit all the required documents and pay the fees and that's it
Faculty
Most of the faculty teaching in the college know what they are doing. There are lot of experienced professors who are really inspiring to look up to. The classes are interesting with regular seminars, tests, industrial visits, real life examples to help us understand better
