Remarks

I gave JEE Entrance Exam and got admission to NIT Trichy through JOSAA Counselling. You can visit the jeemain.nta.nic site for information regarding the entrance exam and visit josa.nic.in for information regarding the counseling process. For 2021 the cutoff for B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering course was 9035 for Other State and 14037 for the Home state (General Category). For my year admission process was very late due to Covid but other than that the process is very smooth and I had no other difficulties.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose Mechanical Engineering cause I like this course. Even when I was young I used to open up appliances in my home which had gone wrong and see the different parts. We have a class of 69 students and there are separate teachers for all the subjects in the course. The teachers are very qualified and have a lot of knowledge. As I am from the North I sometimes have a bit of difficulty in understanding one or two teachers but it is not a very big problem as after some time you get used to it. Our first-year duration was cut short to half to cover up the gap due to Covid. But it didn't seem that the faculty was rushing through the syllabus.

Internships Opportunities

4

I have not started an internship as I am in my first year. But for past years I can tell that there are many Research internships that NIT Trichy has to offer. You can also apply for Company internships by contacting them directly.

Placement Experience

3.5

Over 220 companies visit NIT Trichy for placements like Google, Facebook, Sony, Reliance, Amazon, TATA, Volvo, etc. I myself am in the first year so have very little info regarding placements. After I get my B.Tech degree I plan to apply for Masters for doing Research.

Fees and Financial Aid

For General Category when you have no reservation or scholarship, the tuition fees for all years is around 125 Thousand/Year. As compared to other colleges at the same level as NIT Trichy, its fees are one of the lowest. You have some scholarships like JSPF exclusively for students of NIT Trichy. There are many other opportunities too. For students from low-income families or from reservation categories, there is reimbursement of fees to help them.

Campus Life

4.5

We at NIT Trichy have an annual fest - Festember - which is usually held in the month of September. Also, there are separate tech fests from different departments like Currents, Synergy, etc. NIT Trichy has a very humongous Library and E-Library with collections of books, journals, magazines, etc. For sports, you have an Indoor Gym, 25M swimming pool, a sports complex, outdoor stadium, 400M track, Cricket ground, 2 Outdoor basketball courts, 2 football, 1 hockey field,3 tennis courts, 2 badminton courts, and several indoor complexes for table tennis and carrom. NIT Trichy has many technical, social, and cultural clubs for the students like, Astronomy clubs, dance, literary, music, robotics, and many more.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are 22 boys hostels and 6 girls hostel. Hostels have TV, water cooler, DOT telephones, indoor sports complex, etc. In a room, you have a fan, a cot for bed, an almirah, and a table. There are separate messes for veg, non-veg, and Jain food. Also, there are messes for north Indian and south Indian food. You can register for a hostel room during the start of each year and the hostel fees in around 22000/Year

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
