Remarks

If you want to postgraduate in Bengali the eligibility criteria is that you must have passed graduation from any renowned university. It is a 10+2+3 system. You must have 50% marks in graduation to apply here for post-graduation. The application form is on our website. Due to covid, we did not need to pay for application fees. Now as the admission process is merit-based you must have good marks to get a seat here. They will publish several merit lists and if you are on the merit list you have to pay the admission fee. Then you have to verify all your documents offline and this is a complete process. Yes for all SC/ST/OBC candidates reservation seats are available. There are 20% seats for the other university students too.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

After completing graduation I wanted to pursue higher studies and I want to research Bengali literature. So I have chosen this course. We have around 10 professors and around 75 students in our PG Bengali section. So our student-faculty ratio is very good. It's approximately 7-8 students per one faculty. Our sir and ma'am are very qualified. Almost every faculty in our department have done P.hD. Their teaching method is very unique and they have taken regular online classes in a pandemic situation. In short, they are very willing to teach us and they are student-friendly. We have 4 semesters in the PG course. So we have 4 main exams and internal exams before every semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee does not increase very often. And it being a government college fee is very low compared to other colleges. Our admission fee was around Rs 5400. And for every semester the fee stays approximately 4000. Before every exam for admit card, the fee is between 600-1000. So the total fee in two years is under Rs 20000. The scholarships are available for good students. SVMCM scholarship is available for both boys & girls. But a minimum of 60% marks in graduation is required and to renew this scholarship for the 2nd year you have to get more than 53% marks in the first two semesters. The scholarship amount is 24000 per year. For the girls Kanyashree scholarships are available. Those who got over 45% marks can avail themselves of these scholarships. For minority candidates, a small number of scholarships are available name OASIS

Campus Life

4

In our Bengali department, we celebrate several cultural programs and we are encouraged to perform in those programs. Vivek Jayanti, Rabindra Jayanti, International mother language day, Teacher's day, Fresher's programs, and many more programs are organized every year. We have a very good library. We can find departmental books and many other varieties of books like novel short story magazines journals etc. We can take a book home for study purposes too. Our classroom is medium in size. Our classrooms are kept clean and we have good quality benches. We have a student union group. They organize annual functions and annual sports programs. Many students join this. We have hostel facility and wifi facility on our campus

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for applying for internships after the 3rd semester, and students can apply for placements only after 4th semester. Companies like Ericsson, Ernst and Young, JPMG makes visits our department for mostly analyst roles for economic and fundamental trading decisions. The highest offer made was 45LPA while the average is 7.5LPA. The median pakage is 8LPA. Almost 90% students secure placements after completing their degree since the Training and placement cell is pretty proactive in securing good company visits. I plan for investing and analyst roles in banking companies. I would sit for placements hoping for the same.

Remarks:

I am both positive and negative marks started with positive the factories where very good well well qualified there is no ragging the environment is eco friendly people very helpful there is no senior junior bond everyone is equal. The negative were enormous starting with the infrastructure in some places there are new buildings halls which are not even maintained and that's the biggest problem facilities are not given to student in the hostel so much carelessness is there in the routine work people are very lazy to do their working time authority is very slow to do their workrecreational activities other than academics are very less a student didn't get the time for recreational and facilities were also not there I come modern infrastructure universities should be so we have to change this things to do the university prosper in the later year in the first and foremost thing is determination a that everyone should give efforts to make our university Pride and worthful.
