Remarks
The eligibility of the course was that you had to clear the exam conducted by VIT. You can find the application forms on Vit official website. You've to create an account and add all the details asked. The application fee that I paid was 2000 INR. And after that, you'll receive the mails as well as text messages from Vit regarding the exam. Vit preponed its exams during my case. We've to take the exams from our home. The paper consists of MCQs. You were supposed to use ur laptop's camera for your face and a mobile camera to show your writing pad. After like 3 weeks the result came and a few days after the counseling instructions were given to us. In order to apply for counseling, we've to pay a fee of 6000 INR. Then we've to select the branches. There are five categories in VIT. Cat-1: 1.9L tuition fees. Cat 2: 2.8 L. Cat 3- 4L. Cat 4: 5L and Cat-5: Almost 6L.
Course Curriculum Overview
See for all first-year students the course is like 90 % similar for all. I opt for Computer Science and Engineering because I have a lot of interest in this field. I love coding so yeah I picked up this course. The course curriculum is not too much not too less I can say it's ok. But the assignments that they gave every week are a pain. You'll be getting like 3-4 assignments per week. Then quizzes. The faculty that I got for the first semester was so good. They all were very good people by heart and are experts in their fields. all the faculties that I had, all have a Ph.D. in their fields. Coming up next are the exams. In Vit, there are like 3 main types of exams in the semester. CAT-1,CAT-2 and FAT. CATs are conducted in every 1.5 months gap and FAT is conducted at the end of the semester. If you just pay attention to the class and revise things then these exams are not as hard.
Internships Opportunities
I don't know much about the internship stuff but yeah I've heard from seniors that a number of companies come to our college for internships paid as well as unpaid. If you don't get an internship offer from on campus you apply for an off-campus one and just show some sort of proof to your HOD and you're good to go.
Placement Experience
In the 7th semester, students can apply for placements and the eligibility criteria for sitting in the placements. There is a credit system in Vit. You should have a minimum number of credits in order to sit for the placements. According to 2021, 5876 students applied for placements, 85.62% students got placed and the highest package was 44Lacs. A total of 842 companies visited the campus and the average package was 7.38L. My plan is to get get a job in a well-reputed company till now but I don't know about the future. We'll see.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yeah, actually the fees are kinda high in Vit. If you are from Cat1,2, then it's fine but in the latter categories, the fees are quite high. I'll suggest if you are getting admission in Cat-1,2, then definitely go for it. If you are getting at Cat-3 then You've to think about it and if you are getting in Cat4,5 then you can take admissions in it if you don't need any financial aid or otherwise try for some different colleges. I don't know much about the financial aid things but Vit definitely gives some kind of scholarships for star students. You've to be like the state topper or you should have Vit rank under 1000, then you are eligible for the scholarships.
Campus Life
See I just started my first year so I don't know much about these fests. For the library, they provide you with a username and password to access the library. There are all sorts of books available in the library. I've only seen the classrooms virtually but they seem big enough and have a lot of space in them. There is almost every type of sport available in vit. Coming onto groups and chapters, there are like 78 groups and 65 chapters from you can choose from. You can find your interest accordingly and get in one of those.
Hostel Facilities
For the hostels, you're provided with 1,2,3,4,6- bedroom availability. For 1 bedroom set fees is like 95k, for the 2-bedroom set, fees are 85k, for the 3-bedroom set, fees are 75k, for the 4-bedroom set, the fees are 65k and for the 6-bedroom set, the fees is 55k. You've to pay for the mess separately. There are 3 options you are provided with. Veg, Non-veg, and special. The prices are 53k for veg, 59k for non-veg, and 57k for special. I haven't tasted the food but have seen some pictures and the food looks quite good. And if you want to live in a pg then it should be around a 50 km radius of our campus and for the first-year students, a guardian is mandatory.
