Remarks

One has to score at least 60% overall in Class 12 boards and at least 60% in English to be eligible for the course. The application form can be found by registering on the admissions website (Bethune admissions.ac.in). The application dates will be updated on the college website (Bethune college.ac.in). The application process was smooth and glitch-free but in the future, I hope a separate entrance test is held instead of just considering the percentages obtained on the 12th boards.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The course attracted me due to its novelty and bright prospects. The faculty is well qualified and sufficiently equipped to help students reach their potential. The student-to-teacher ratio is approximately 7:1, which is impressive for a public college. Lessons are well-planned and doubts are cleared as and when they arise. Exams are held timely and the standard of questions is pretty high. Passing is not easy but also not impossible.

Internships Opportunities

3

Students from the college have interned at Fortis hospital's Mental health care unit, social organizations under Kalam Foundation, All India Radio, and many such esteemed organizations. Not all internships offer high stipends but when it comes to gaining experience, opportunities are plenty.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college has a Career Counseling Cell which specifically caters to placements and job opportunities. Seminars on communicative English and workshops on career counseling are frequently held for students of all semesters. Reputed companies like Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, and Genpact recruit students from campus placement services. The number of students getting recruited from campus is around 25 per year.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee is nominal and studying is extremely affordable. Considerable financial help and numerous scholarships are available for students from lower-income backgrounds. A notable scholarship is the Swami Vivekananda Merit and Means Scholarship (SVMCM) which provides financial help to students from lower-income families.

Campus Life

4

There are two libraries in the college, both of which are well stocked with books relating to various courses. Lending books is hassle-free and a boon for students as they don't have to buy a lot of books. There are 6 clubs, covering areas from film and drama to environmental activism. The cubs are managed by the Student Council and are active in their club meets and extra-curricular activities. Students also have the option of joining the National Social Service (NSS). The annual feast of the college is called Aalap and is usually held in December. An annual sports day is also held in the open field on campus every winter.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
