Remarks

Admission was through Jossa 6 rounds of seat allocation where 70k was paid to jossa which was adjusted with the college fees. When a seat will be allotted you have 3 options freeze float and slide freeze means you accepted the allotted seat Float means you accept the seat but wants to participate in further rounds for a better seat

Course Curriculum Overview

As my priority was to circuital branches and this was the best I could get so I choose the branch. The faculty-student ratio is very good here near about 1:50. Faculty are highly qualified but they lack teaching skills. Some teachers mean 1 out of 10 can be told good and in others classes, we have just no idea what's going on inside it and we are completely dependent on you-tube lectures

Internships Opportunities

Many companies' internships give stipends ranging from 15k-1.25 lac. But the number of companies is still less than what arrived at the time of placements. Its brutal truth that it's easier for circuital branch students to get internships to try to clear the online test and then in software jobs it's all about ur dsa skills and projects

Placement Experience

Students are eligible for campus placements in the 7th semester. Students who haven't bagged PPO from internship opportunities provided in the previous year seat in campus placement. A large number of companies visit and it's unlikely you will get unplaced but give yourself the best chance to get one of the highest packages BEST OF LUCK

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many students who avail of scholarships through a variety of methods but I don't have much idea about it. There is fee concession like general and obc students having a family income less than 5lac get a 66% discount on tuition fees which reduces their total fees to 5lac in 4yrs while students having income less than 1lac have to pay 3.4 lacs total but s/st students only pay 3.4 lacs without any income criteria

Campus Life

Many fests go throughout the year tech fest like INNOVISION, cultural fest NITRUTSAV and sports fest VRIDDHI is the prime. Many books are available in the library and very few go through it all about youtube lectures one day before exams for students who are preparing for non-core placements. Classrooms at LA are Air conditioned but classrooms in dept buildings arent except for CS dept. Many clubs are there but the most important club I will encourage you to join is APS Nitr it has been formed by merging 5 coding clubs its great for you if you want to bag a software job

Hostel Facilities

7 hostels for boys 2 for girls and 1 for married girls. Each room is provided with 1 table 1 desk per student and has a fan in it. Mess quality is average some days it's pretty good but some days it's just tasteless. The fees is 17.5k per semester

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

Likes

The infrastructure of each campus in the college is very pretty and it's a green campus
The classrooms are well equipped with WiFi, Smart-boards for digital education.
Also travelling from one campus to another has been made easier as buses and golf carts are provided to students

Dislikes

The crowd of students here is too much which feels too much chaotic and disturbing .
The hostel management here as they don't give importance to the major issues here.
The hostel mess food. The quality is degrading day by day

Placement Experience:

The placements of my college is good. This year 75% of the students are already placed with an average package of 8LPA . The highest package till now for this year is 22LPA. Many companies have visited for the placements and 100+ offers have been made. Companies like BNY, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Bain& Company, High Radius, TCS, EY, PWC and many more of them have visited the campus.

The college campus greenery and campus cleaning management are doing really very well that is the only good part but that doesn't matter much for your career.
⭐⭐There is nothing good to mention about this college after going through all the procedures from taking admission to degree,I regret and many of my friends also regretting taking admission into this college.⭐⭐

Dislikes

They have a good well maintained cricket ground but students are never allowed there only for commercial purposes and to attract new joinee.
Staff and management are very helpful and polite only till admission done.🥲.
Hostel food quality is extremely unhigenic, no one takes responsibility after many complaints also.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum was very classical , too much theory oriented for placement point of view they will provide last 1 month or 2 months training for aptitude part rest for technical you have to study on your own.

Beautiful campus with lot's of space and with good computer labs
They conduct exam in very smoothly manner

Dislikes

Need to improve administrative building while submitting fees many students face problem
Lab session of some subjects are too long which is around 3 hrs which need to reduce for atleast 2 hrs

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities in my college are good, with students generally becoming eligible for campus placements from the pre-final or final year, depending on the course and company criteria. The college has an active placement celll that supports students by Organizing training sessions, resume building and also mock interviews.

Have collabs with IBM, Samsung, Capgemini for RnD and NUS singapore , University of North Texas
Our college has hosted International Conferences like IEEE InGAARS 2025and Indocrypt 2025, where scientists had came from NASA, ISRO, all IITs, Foreign Universities, etc
Exposure is Good. The teachers here put efforts to teach and research. Unlike other colleges where teachers comes and roll out PPTs, here every teacher teaches on Board explaining everything properly

Dislikes

Few teachers speak in Odia accent, so it takes couple weeks to adjust
Campus is kind of small (36acres), but its good area for a IIIT, considering IIIT delhi is just 25 acres
3 occupancy hostels for 1st years (same goes for any other NIT/IIIT), but they have a option of single rooms from 2nd year

Placement Experience:

from 6th sem, students are eligible almost 100 companies visited including IBM, VISA, Infosys, DE Shaw etc. Highest is 63 LPA and avg is 12-13LPA 90% placements I may consider doing MBA if I dont get very big package

The professor who taught in our class they are taught is best In teaching.
They provide you many opportunities to work upon on you.
The infrastructure of college is good and huge.

Dislikes

The campus is very vast, and you have to walk for every minute of work.
The are very serious about your study and what you are doing
The gate get closed if you get came late even it's 5-10 minute late.

Placement Experience:

It's good as many company come but the placement directly depend on your study and hard work of your 4 year and a pre placement also conduct in 3rd year where you can also get placed. For placement the student should secure 8-10 cgpa for sit in interview exam.

So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people. Discovering NIT Rourkela

I chose NIT rourkela based on my JEE rank, as this was the highest rated college I could get.It had good placements, had a high NIRF ranking and in comparsion to my other choices was the clear winner. The admission process takes place through JOSSA counselling for B.Tech.After being alloted a college on site registration takes place followed by hostel allocation and branch admission , a procedure that lasts about 6-10 hours. Internship-first step to placement.

The course requires us to clear jee mains in which the cutoff is above 90 percentile for general category. The form is found on NTA website and fees is about 1000 rs for general category. The exam happens twice in a year and by difficulty level is pretty descent...with maths the hardest and toughest.
