All about NITJ

Admission to NITs takes place through JEE mains exam. For attempting JEE exam you should have passed classes 10 and 12 class or going to appear for 12 in the same year when you are going to appear for JEE. And for taking admission to the B.Tech course for ECE in NITJ your general rank cutoff is around 16000 in AIR and for the Punjab quota its around 19000. Reservation benefits are available in JEE mains.

NIT works on an internal system. So course curriculum changes and is always kept best keeping in mind the requirements of the industry but I will say if you are thinking this curriculum will give you more practical knowledge then it's not. All studies will be done in the old traditional form as we used to do since our childhood. Faculty members are good, and well educated in their field. But you will get some faculty members who are too bad at explaining concepts. That is a scenario in every college that you will not get everything best.

Internships are provided by the college but only a few people can cope with those internships. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and tesla instruments come for giving internships. The highest stipend is given by Microsoft and goggles of eighty thousand per month.

Placements are too good for NITJ. You can get an average placement of around 10 LPA according to records. But yes most of the people get placed with a descent package of 8 LPA as the average is increased by extremely bright students who get a package of 1 CR. , 50 LPA, and many such. But there is a harsh reality for getting a good placement you need to do coding as most the placement are done in the software industry.

The fee structure is semester basis. Like you need to pay hostel and institute fees after every 5 months when the new semester starts. If you are SC or ST student then your total tuition fee will be waived. Even if you are a general category student there are some slabs of fee waivers based on your family income.

My expectations from NIT were too high regarding campus life, infrastructure, and libraries but that gets vanished once I enter college. Might be exciting for starting few days but then life seems like a robot doing the same stuff every day without any room for new exposure, and activities. You cannot go out of the institute at any time of your choice as you need to take a pass from the hostel which is not provided to you every time. Even you will not get exposure to the city as it's at a distance of 20 km from the main city.

Hostel facilities are not too good at NITJ as compared to many colleges. There are more restrictions in a hostel than in a college. You cannot have any electric appliances like a kettle, or heater induction with you. You need to take a gate pass from the hostel if want to go outside campus. Daily we need to sign the attendence register. Mess food is also limited for you like you can have just one spoon of sabzi for more you need to pay extra (pulses, rice, and roti are unlimited). You can either take bread milk or nashta only one option.
