Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is current and the syllabus is continuously revised and made relevant according to the industrial skills needed. Some of the faculties are the best you can get and they motivate us to pursue and be deeply engrossed in the subject of their expertise. All faculties are PHD holders from reputed institutions. The exams are of moderate level and one could pass the exams with regular and sincere studies.
Internships Opportunities
Amazon, Microsoft and similar companies give offers and a good cgpa is required to sit in the interview. Stipend is usually low in internships. Competition is also huge to get an internship due to the massive intake.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, placement starts for internships and full-time offers. Almost all reputed companies visit the campus for placements. Almost 90% are placed. The average package for cse/it is 10 lpa; for other branches, it can go from 5 to 8 lpa. Opportunities to go abroad for higher studies are also there with programs like it, sap, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees depend on the category you are in. It varies from 1.9 lakhs to 5 lakhs of tuition fees per year. So a four-year bachelor's degree would cost between 12 to 22 lakhs. Placements are conducted on campus with various companies visiting for full-time offers and internships.
Campus Life
The club's cultural and technical fest is spectacular and fun to be a part of. The opportunities one gets in pursuing extra activities and club work add to one's experience. The library is fully stocked with all the books. Classrooms are standard with a smart board and a projector. All kinds of sports facilities are available inside the campus. There are over 200 clubs and chapters run by students in VIT.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are good enough with some blocks being better than others. The mess is ok and not too bad. The menu is changed every two weeks.The average total cost of hostels and mess are 1.5 lakhs to 2 lakhs depending on the no of roomates in a room.
Admission
VITEEE was the exam, it was pretty easy and you had to fetch a rank under 10k to be in the first category branches. After that, you would get other categories with fees increasing by almost a lakh per year. For admission into computer science or information technology branches, you will need a rank under 10k for the first 3 categories. VITEEE is much easier than other engineering entrance examinations like jee mains. One can read ncert books to crack it easily. There is no reservation in this college. The application form and dates could be found on the Vellore institute of technology's main website. The cutoff also varies differently for the different college locations with Vellore being the highest followed by Chennai then Andra Pradesh then Bhopal. Improvements could be done is to remove the category system and taking admission only on merit and the admission entrance test could be made harder and closer to the level of jee mains to ensure a better quality of students.
