Course Curriculum Overview

3

The CSE course curriculum is good. Similar to the other colleges. Some faculties are very good and have deep knowledge in their field, but the overall review of the faculties would be average in my opinion. Talking about the faculty-student ratio, there is 1 faculty for every 40-45 students approx. Most of the faculties are well qualified with higher graduation degrees and PhDs. Exams are held every 40 days. There are 2 internal exams namely, CAT-1 and CAT-2, and one final exam FAT. CAT-2 is an open-book exam. Final lab exams happen just before the FAT exam. It is not too difficult to pass and even maintains a minimum of 8.5 CGPA overall. Just a little effort before the exam would suffice.

Internships Opportunities

4

Students get internship opportunities during their third year of college. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Adobe visit the college for internship offers. The stipend depends on the company providing the internship. This might be a 1-3 months summer internship that holds 2 credits in the curriculum.

Placement Experience

3.5

Yes, there are on-campus placement opportunities for students. Students become eligible for placements in their 4th year and should not have any backlogs pending. There are so many placement opportunities here in VIT. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, DE Shaw, MATLAB, Siemens, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Deloitte, KPMG, PWC, Providence, Air India, etc. visit for the placements and the number of offers varies from 1 offer to more than 100 offers in a mass recruiting company like TCS. There's a 100% placement record in VIT. The highest package in the year 2022-2023 was 1.2 Cr given by Motorq. The average package is 8-9 lakhs for CSE and overall around 7 lakhs per annum. There are 3 types of offers regular, dream, and super dream. If you get placed in Super Dream, you cannot sit for further offers. If Dream, you can only sit for super dream offers. Other options students get is to go for a master's. VIT also helps here by conducting different scholarship opportunities, and foreign exchange programs.

Fees and Financial Aid

I was admitted in the 3rd Category during counseling. My tuition fees were 3,00,000 yearly. Hostel fees for a 2-bed non-AC were 70,000 yearly. Hostel fees depend upon the type of room you opt for, whether it has AC or not, the number of beds and which block are you willing to stay in. VIT has a 100% student placement record. But, so many mass recruiters offer jobs to many students at a time. Apart from that you get so many opportunities from big MNCs like Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, etc. You can get placed in a very good company with a good knowledge of DSA and OOPS. I got placed in Siemens EDA with ?20lakhs CTC and 40,000 stipends.

Campus Life

4.5

The 372-acre campus has so many thing places to visit, chill out, make friends, and enjoy. There are 2 main fests. Gravitas(Tech fest) and Riviera(Cultural fest). Gravitas falls usually around october-november and Riviera falls in February. Gravitas has many tech events, shows, and opportunities for students to show their tech skills. Riviera on the other hand has many games and shows to take part in. Interesting events and standup shows, music concerts. People like Zakir Khan, Shreya Ghoshal, and Arman Malik do live concerts and stand-ups during Riviera. You'll find many clubs and chapters in VIT like IEEE, ISEC, DGS, etc., and try getting into one of the chapters in the first year itself.

Admission

First of all visit the official website of VIT (vit.ac.in). Here, you'll find all the course-related details, application details, application forms, application fees, and dates of application and examination. There are no reservation benefits here. The admission is purely based on the rank scored. The admission process is divided into 5 categories. The fees to be paid are dependent on the category in which you get admission with 1st category being the lowest fees (around 1,50,000/- yearly) and 5th being the highest fees(around 5,50,000/- yearly).

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.
