Remarks

The institute is an ideal platform to give flight to one's dreams. Its only up to the students that work hard & with diligence, so that they can emerge as better citizens of the nation & pass out with flying colors.

Entrance Preview

The admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) is done on the basis of JEE Main ranks. My score in JEE Main-2016 was 164. I opted for this college because it is a high reputed college & it is an institute of national importance. Further in-campus placements are also pretty fair.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is pretty good. Some of the departments have their own Research & Development centers. Various scholars even from abroad come here to carry out their research. The curriculum otherwise is diverse too, & we get to learn skills from different fields & aspects.

Internships Opportunities

The college does not provide paid internship on a regular basis. Although one can carry out his research work in any of the departments by paying fees as prescribed by the institute.

Placement Experience

The placements at NIT Jalandhar are pretty good. The highest package from the college in the year 2016 was 27 Lpa in India & 73Lpa Overseas. The average package of Computer Science Engineering is 9 Lpa & that of the institute for all branches is 5-6 Lpa.

College Events

There are number of events organised in the institute throughout the year which are based on scholastic as well as co- curricular activities. Among them, there are two major events celebrated in the Institute, TechNITi & Utkansh. TechNITi is the technical fest organised during odd semester & Utkansh is the cultural fest organised during even semester.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of the institute is average. The annual fees for B. Tech. is about 1.5 lac(exclusive mess & hostel). Although if the students is from reserved category or the family income the students in less than 5 lpa, then he has to pay as low as 20000 a year. The hostel & mess fees are quite feasible.

There are various banks & other loan providers in collaboration with the institute that provide 0 interest rate education loan to students of the institute.

Campus Life

The campus life here at NITJ is pretty amazing. In spite of hectic daily schedule, there are many things to explore & indulge in. There are numerous events organised almost every 2 weeks in which the students can participate & improve their personality & soft skills. The gender ratio is mostly male dominant. The activities conducted are diverse in nature keeping in mind the students of different cultural backgrounds from all over the country.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facilities & mess food are good enough. Unlike many NITs & IITs, the food here is very hygienic & delicious as well. We get 24 hours electricity facility in the hostels & free WiFi facility in the hostels with 4GB of data given to every student on a daily basis.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of the institute is not very good though. The institute is unable to maintain a regular & comprehensive relations & contacts with the alumnus. Although alumni meet is conducted on an yearly basis.

Exam Structure

Exam structure of the institute is well organised & framed as per the curriculum. Each semester is for about 5 months & we have two class tests(minors) & one final test(major). The scores of all the three tests are used to calculate the result of a student. There is almost one month gap between any two tests(minors & major).

Admission

The JEE Main counselling is done by JoSAA. We to fill in the choice of institute & branch we want to take admission in. Then during counselling rounds when a seat is allotted according to our choice, we have to report physically to any of the nearest NITs. After the counselling procedure is over & the seat allotted is fixed, we to the report to the institute where the seat is allotted. There document verification is done & we get admission to the institute.

Faculty

The faculty is highly experienced & learned at NITJ. Most of the professors & other faculty members are graduates, post graduates & Ph. D. holders from IITs & other reputed colleges. They are also very supported & always ready to be there for the students in order to resolve their problems.

Likes

The infrastructure is great with state of the art labs and equipment
The library is really nice place to study
Lots of hangout spots in and around campus

Dislikes

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

The Scholarship benefit is good when compared to other universities the fee is also not very huge.The Infrastructure of the campus was vast and there arelots of stall to purchase food items etc
There is a big mall through which You can get necessary items .In every hostel you will have departmental stores
The faculty was highly qualified. The Placements opportunities are also good The average was offered was 5-6 LPA.The Lpu newly Launched Education Revolution is very good for students

Dislikes

The mandatory 75% attendance policy for every subject.If you not maintain you will debar from End term examinations which is not all good
The Roads are not that much good .The roads are made of parking tiles instead of Thar
The distance between hostels and main gates are nearly 1.5 -2 km which not at all good .but there e-rickshaw they charge 15 rupees per person to drop from hostel to main gate

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course cirriculum changes every year by rapid changes happening due to AI The University has also launched a new school called School of AI and emerging technologies.from this every year syllabus changesand exams pattern changes .the difficulty of exams is increasing day by day.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Distance of travelling coz for me its too much far

- Limited campus opportunities were available, and most students become eligible from the final year. - The average package was around 2-5 LPA. - after my degree my plan is to improve my employability my strengthening my technical skill in my domain

From 7th sem students become eligible for campus placements and tata or Infosys companies visited and about 60 to 70 percent students were placed and my plans after getting the degree is to opt for higher studies doing mtech from iit

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The sports and the various facilities that they provide for relaxing
The Library that remains open till 10-11 at night for those who wish to study till late
Great mentors and very helpful teachers who are always willing to help

The hectic schedule and curriculum that the students have to follow.
The lack of certain facilities that would help the students improve thoer personalities
Too much strictness and restrictions with everything that someone wishes to do

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
