Course Curriculum Overview

The ranking of the college is quite good, and it's a type of deemed university under the government of INDIA called GFTI which is a Government funded technical institute. Teaching staff and faculties are qualified many of them are passed from IIT and they are enough qualified to teach students in a better way. Quality of teaching is also good here, most of the curriculum is based on industries so the students not facing any type of difficulties and problems during working in industries.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are quite low in SLIET Longowal as compared to other institutions. if we talk about U-G courses that B E tuition fee per year is about RS 50000 and if we include hostel charges it will be approx 60000. so fess is affordable here. and students will also get some scholarship that is TFW, poor student funds from the institute and through the NSP portal.

Campus life in SLIET Longowal are good and arranged all type of facilities are available inside the campus, there is a total number of 10 boys' hostels are here and 2 girls' hostels are also here, and there is a SAC called the student activity centre where students can enjoy according to their own, music room is also here. So, campus life is good here.

Admission

There are different types of courses are available here in SLIET Longowal, some of them are Diploma, UG, PG, PhD, For admission in Diploma Courses university Conducts its own CET and takes admission in Diploma Programme. for UG especially for the B E programme admission is based on JEE mains rank and for Lateral Entry in the B E programme university conducts its own CET. For P G courses like M.tech GATE score is valid and for vacant seats University conducts its own CET.

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

As I scored a decent percentile in the jee mains exam.So, I've some chances to get in the lower nits and lower branch but like Nit Rourkela, Manipur etc.But I wants to pursue my career in the computer science so I've to choose that one college where I got CS branch. It is a CFTI having some decent placements score and one of the main point is the fee of the college is some low from the other colleges. Not at all I got the other colleges but not the CS branch that's why I didn't choose that colleges over this.
