Course Curriculum Overview
The course i chose was bio-technology and the reason i chose was because of my interest in the field of biology and biotechnology provides a better insight on that subject and provides many fields within the course to choose from. Currently there are around 65 students with around 4 faculty teachers. The teachers however teach in a thorough manner and help us understand the concepts. The exams were held with a gap of one and a half month and it is easy to pass as long as u listen to the concepts taught in the class
Internships Opportunities
As I'm still in first year i don't have a clear view of the internships provided by the college but there are many companies like Google,Amazon, Cisco that help the students to take part in their intern programs with stipend of 1 lakh. Students also take part in projects given by the teachers starting from the third semester and teachers help us throughout the project clarifying our doubts and encouraging the students.
Placement Experience
Campus placements start from the 6th semester of the course. There are around 700-800 companies visiting the college every year and offering placements. Around 85% of the students in each course get placed in different companies like Wipro,Infosys, Amazon and many more. The highest package can go till 1 crore and the average is around 7-8 lakh per year. After completing BTech i plan to study further and do Mtech and i aim to work in a company that offers my field of interest
Fees and Financial Aid
Biotechnology course costs around 2 lakhs and there are no fees hike but during the application process u end up paying half of the fees and in the end they'll ask u to pay the rest half. SRM does have scholarships like the SRM merit scholarship and they provide to pay the entire first year fees depending on your 12th board percentage and they also provide financial assistance. The placements provided by the campus depends on the course but the highest they give is 50 LPA with stipend
Campus Life
The social life in campus is good. There are many events throughout the year where students can participate and take part in. The annual fest here is the Milan which is an inter college cultural festival. It is a 4 day event and Students from all the departments and the other branches take part in it. The library in SRM is quite big and it has books of all subjects which is helpful for research and studies. The classrooms are big and spacious and can accommodate students of large numbers. The classrooms have projectors with digital boards. There are a bunch of extracurricular activities and sports clubs in the campus where students can join and these clubs can also hold events within the college. One of the clubs in the campus is the literary club which was created by the students and it's quite a fun club with different activities like crossword puzzle quizzes etc.
Admission
For bio-technology the eligibility is 10+2 with either pcb or pcmb. The application form is available online in the website or u can go to the college and collect the form and the application fees ranges from 800-1500 and the dates for applying depends on the course it can go for 2-3 weeks. There wasn't any details of reservation benefits given for my course. The improvements I'd like to see is better communication from the management for online admissions as they used to convey information quite late and it's difficult for people from other states to apply
Other Applied Colleges
Amrita School of Medicine | Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy
Didn't provide a clear view of the course
