What Students Say
Likes
- The course options and the variety of clubs.
Dislikes
- The sheer number of students that makes it hard to stand out from the crowd.
Course Curriculum Overview
There are a variety of different courses and specifications and one can choose to also do different electives or minors alongside your major. There is a lot of crowd in both the Chennai and Vellore campuses. The actual faculty-to-student ratio might even be worse than your high school, as each class can have upto 70 students. The qualifications and teaching abilities of the faculty also varies greatly some are excellent The entrance exam is very easy when compared to JEE or BITSAT but as they do not tell you your marks obtained they are not transparent. The exams during the course can range from mildly easy to slightly hard all depending on your faculty and your efforts.
Internships Opportunities
I don't have any internship offers yet as I am still a first-year student Most seniors do at least 1-2 internships during their 3rd and 4th years but they are mostly based on their own skills rather than through the institute.
Placement Experience
After the 6th semester(3rd year) the placements start. Many companies including companies like Microsoft come here. However most students are mass placed in companies like TCS. The packages can range from 3 LPA to 20 LPA depending on your course, skills and CGPA. Though there are some who got up to 40 LPA they are the exceptions not the rule.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees depend on your category and course and the category depends on your rank. fees for the first two categories for a branch like CSE are ok( approx 2 lacs and 3 lacs respectively) but categories 4 and 5 can be very expensive.
Campus Life
There are two annual fests in both Chennai and Vellore campuses, one tech-based and the other entertainment based ( both are fun). The Vellore campus has Gravitas and Rivera while the Chennai one has TechnoVIT and Vibrance. You can play most sports here but the facilities are not that good. There are loads of clubs to join and one can make their own clubs with faculty permissions.
Admission
You have to pass your high school or senior secondary school. There is an entrance examination called VITEEE and admissions are based on that. Application forms and registration can be found on the official VITEEE website. There might be some reservations based on nationality, state, minority status etc. but they are not transparent. The result for VITEEE includes the rank but not the marks you have secured.
