Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

ECE is a promising course with various technical aspects that provides info on electronics and various gadgets that we use in our daily lives. So, it's a great field to pursue regarding the developing field of electronics. Faculty-student ratio at NIT ROURKELA is 38 professors to 120 students. Most of the faculty are Ph.D holders in most of the renowned institutes over the world and basically everyone has a Master's Degree. Teaching methods were modern and easy to understand. We have a mid-semester and an end-semester examination per semester. Exams are hard but one can easily pass each paper with some effort.

Internships Opportunities

4

reputed companies like Microsoft, Bajaj Auto, Citi Bank, Google, and Reliance provide internship offers on campus. Various technical jobs and projects are offered in such internships. Most of the internships are programming based and core based are available too.

Placement Experience

4.5

From 8th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Placement numbers are great where departments record 90% placements in various companies. NIT Rourkela highest package stood at INR 1.2 crore PA whereas NIT Rourkela's average package stood at INR 20.88 LPA. A total of 350 recruiters including 100 new recruiters participated in the placement drive. Some of the top recruiters included Apple, Google, VISA, etc. I have thought of appearing at GATE and trying to pursue M.Tech in IITs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is okay for reserved categories and but for the general categories, it's a bit high. Hostel fees are ok but tuition and mess fees could be reduced. I'm in my first year so I haven't applied for internships yet. But internship offers are great with good stipends and financial assistance is also provided.

Campus Life

4.5

Innovision is the annual tech fest which is conducted in November every year. NITRUSTAV is the annual cultural fest that is conducted in April that includes various unique and distinctive events to meet the demands of everyone. Almost all categories of books and journals are available. Unavailable books can be demanded. Classrooms are well-lit and have both blackboards and projectors for teaching. Ac and coolers are also provided. Nearly all sports facilities, gyms, and swimming pools are available. Recreational facilities are present in Student Activity Center(SAC). There are various clubs such as Aiche, Rotaract, Aps, and Monday morning which are run by students.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel rooms are provided with 2 beds, a table, a fan, and a tube light along with a LAN connection. The mess menu looks good but the food quality is not up to the mark. VS Hall catering facilities were ok but food quality was below average. Hostels are allotted after registration and then the warden allows the room. The process could be a bit more flexible in choosing rooms.

Admission

Admission to the NIT ROURKELA B.Tech program requires qualifying in the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) by clearing the cutoff percentile required for respective branches. Any 12th student scoring 75%marks or above in 12th boards is eligible for this exam. One can find all information regarding the application form, fees, dates, etc. at nitrourkela.ac.in regarding admission to NIT ROURKELA. There are reservations available.50% of the seats are reserved for home-state candidates. Apart from that 10% of the total for the GEN-EWS category,15% for SC,7.5% for ST,27% for OBC, and 5% for PWD candidates. Female candidates have 14% of reserved seats. The admission process is lucid and systematic. Everything went smoothly and there was no problem in the admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs
