Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is very different from surrounding Universities, it definitely follows the UGC curriculum but in addition to it , it has many other good patterns and topics included . The course is made in such a way that it helps in competitive exams like NET, GATE and JAM. The faculty student ratio is good. But right now there is a bit less of faculty present, but I hope that soon the vacancy will be filled. Every faculty has a Phd degree in his/her specialised field along with some major and famous publications and books. Their teaching methods are quite impressive and great, like if you listen to the classes very properly you will understand any hard topic with very ease. Also, regular laboratory work along with assignments are given for a practice which are useful in building concepts. The exams are always in good times, like if you want to give exams like GATE and JAM you will get a month to prepare because the semester exams are conducted in such a way. It is easy .

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is very affordable. for admission, you need about 2000 and for every semester, you need less than 2000. For SC/ST/OBC students these fees go down a bit low. There is no such campus job available, but the university keeps you updated about national and state scholarships that you are eligible for and will assist with the application and all of the processes.

Campus Life

5

The campus life at presidency is very very good, it gives a hinge of the 90's along with modern lifestyle and the culture of Bengal and India. Everyone here can have free opinion and free point of views . Also, it's very friendly for communities like LGBTQ+. There are two main Fests know as MILEU and ICON conducted by the student body along with the political party present in the campus, which are a tot blast. As said previously a huge amount of books are available along with departmental library books and access to many journals and online libraries for free. There are many social groups for a lot of things like dance, art, sports, etc. The facebook and Instagram page for the art group is named Bichitrita. Also there is a confession page on Facebook run by the students names " Confession page Presidency University." The classrooms are very comfortable with the availability of AC and an old vintage view. The classrooms are basically gallery types.

Admission

Mostly people above 94% from CBSE boards are picked and 90% and above for categories like SC/ST/OBC . For other boards such as West Bengal State Board, the cutoff percentage was the same . But From now on and in general, addmission will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the exam PUBDET. The application form of PUBDET can be found in the university website , application fees is 1000 for general category and 500 for SC/ST/OBC and application beigns around January/February of each year and the exam is conducted around July/August, a month after the results are published and the admission process are completed. Every year the cutoff changes and accordingly the benefits of SC/ST/OBC prevail.

Other Applied Colleges

Scottish Church College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Physics)

Course Fees is expensive very much , Presidency University Kolkata is more cheaper and much butter .

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
