Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose literature because of my passion and the scope of the field. In our batch there are only 5 students so the student ratio is not that ideal but its fine. The faculty are qualified enough, some of them teach really nicely and some don't but its still much better than state universities. The exams are not difficult to pass but they are difficult to score high.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The internships in psychology come from Nimhans, various other government hospitals, colleges with psychology departments, Malabar, Mahendra and Mahendra, IIT Ranchi, etc. In the English department we get opportunities to work at christ university, azim premji university etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is kind of affordable but the cost of living is a bit costly. There are many scholarships which are really helpful. Many alumni also have come here to teach. Campus placements are good too but not that great

Campus Life

3.5

Ankur is the annual university-level fest in which all schools participate. It goes on for a month, with almost all activities possible, cultural, academic, and sports. The library is the best place in the university, with over 75000 books, a good place to rest, sit, and study with good wifi connections. Classes have good quality benches, AC and fans, smart boards, and some with projectors too. There is a green club too.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Hostels are still being built, there are currently 4 hostels for boys and girls each. The rooms in the Narmada hostel are spacious but too crowded with people. Common bathrooms make it a little hectic. The food is ample and good.

Admission

The eligibility for this course was 12th class pass with 45% and the entrance test was just a general test which consists of general knowledge and aptitude along with science and maths. Here the combinations were already set for us, there was no autonomy in choosing which subjects we want despite having NEP. And since the eligibility was of just a general test, which is more from a science background, students from science streams were able to score more than students from the arts stream, hence, now in my class of 31 students, only 5 have chosen English and others have chosen psychology. A class with only 5 students is not a good batch for the students or the department.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.
